Wigan turn down Wilder

The article uses the words "missed out" as Sexpom says this could be of Wilder demands.

It is interesting that he trying for the Wigan job after being at Sheffied United and Boro. Most football fans would see Wigan as a a bit of step down.

I know I say this in every Wilder thread but manager stock can fall like a lead balloon once they have a couple of ropey departures.
True and yet Garry monk kept on getting jobs, despite questions being raised by a couple of chairmen and a complete lack of any notable achievements in the game.

Wilder will still be a very good bet for someone, but he's a manager not a head coach. Sure he'll leave as soon as he's offered a better job, but so will most. Managers show no loyalty towards clubs. Clubs show no loyalty towards managers.

I think there’s a difference between not being loyal and actively touting yourself for other jobs. Which I really think is what Wilder was doing.

Wilder has few promotions under his belt unlike some other managers. My gut feeling is that he is better than average. Being successful over a sustained period is evidence of that. A team like Stoke will pick him up and up and probably do quite well.

His reputation after leaving Sheff Utd in the way he did was already damaged, before a similar situation at Boro lead to the same outcome.

West Brom gave serious consideration to appointing him before we did, but the story goes that Sheff Utd owners warned WBA against him.

I think his career is significantly damaged now and he'll struggle to get a club at the level of us or WBA, until he repairs his reputation.

I'm not sure anyone could do well at Stoke.

Job becomes vacant at Burnley, Wilder just happens to be sat in the stands, Wilder refuses to distance himself from said vacancy which results in an unsettled team. That’s enough for me but you believe what you want.
It just happened to be in the stands for burley vs Chelsea before our cup game against Chelsea. That myth has been busted a few times already but is still peddled out now

American_mary who is one of the most respected members of this board has stated that Burnley never courted Wilder.

Results actually started to become more unsettled in January. Which suggests a difference on transfer policy started to become fractured
