Wilder analyst

Wow, this kid knows his onions. I predict a very bright future for him, either in coaching or the media.

Great to hear an independent view on the Wilder effect. There seems to be a few 'outsiders' taking notice. More than I remember for karanka's tenure.

I was a bit sceptical, myself about playing it out from the back. This young'un has just schooled me in the reason's

Thanks for posting,

although interesting he praises the long diagonal ball as on Saturday McNair did that and found his man and Wilder rushed out and shouted at him - I think to not do it

Its OK but the lad needs to learn what the word pragmatic means, when he says that Wilder is not pragmatic. His suggestion that we are varying our tactics to suit the opposition is the very definition of pragmatic.

PRAGMATIC -
dealing with things sensibly and realistically in a way that is based on practical rather than theoretical considerations.

Very good - love the insistence on cutting back to create chances. Much more difficult for a defender to deal with a low ball in the six-yard than a floated cross from deep.

Pep used it to great effect with Barca - how many times Messi would pop up virtually alongside the near post. If you get into those positions the ball is likely going in.

Good watch that. A good points return from these next 5 games really does set us up nicely for the rest of the season with a developing side on a good run of form.

THANK YOU! I watched it and was hoping to see this reply. What's the effin point of being able to regurgitate pre written cliché modern football tactical jargon in a confident TV mimicked manner if you literally completely contradict yourself due to not knowing the definition of a relatively basic word? Baffling.

He'd do well on sky sports like.

Overly critical of his wordsmith skills I think. Not my take on his video at all. His assessment of our strengths and how we have turned the season around is what I thought was prevalent - not the misuse of the word pragmatic.

I interpreted the context of his use of pragmatic as only us being 'frugal' or 'sparingly'. As in practically approaching games looking to snatch just one goal and sit back, whereas he pointed out we'd had over 11 attempts against Bournemouth, yet only scored one.

Agreed. I also think he contrasted a 'pragmatic style' with our varied style - the ability to play in different ways to suit different opposition tactics.

He's a very good speaker, not especially verbose and really wouldn't be out of place on the box. That said I feel like he did badly misuse the word which undermined what he went on to say. For the production value of the channel I'd expect that to have been rectified in editing at least.

As a professional I’d agree but he’s a rank amateur and I’d give him leeway accordingly personally.
