Throwing the players under the bus in only his second game. Wow just Wow 😳
I thought the manger wasn't allowed to do that ? After all Warnock got Dogs abuse for the exact same thing, didn't he ??????

Warnock got dogs abuse because he wasn't fair with his criticism. Hammering certain players continually and leaving his 'favourites' alone even if they'd been terrible and had cost us.

Ha hasn't thrown anyone under the bus which is why you are guessing who he means on here. The 2 results could both be better and would have been deserved. Much better to watch than the hoof ball pap Neil had us playing. Given time and a bit of money and Wilder will turn us around.

Warnock didn't play hoof ball, you obviously haven't been to the Riverside for a while...

Howson as well probably as well, was supposed to be the CDM, got caught too high chasing the ball to give them a the corner for the first goal. Bamba trying to play passes through McNair in his own 6 yard box.

plenty of plus (attacking) points but in the end we lost — basically our defensive situation is critical. Let’s face it we did more than enough to runaway with the game tonight but as we know with our back line and keeper we’re just a bad pass away from a defeat and so it proved tonight. Fry will make a big difference but will he be back this year or next? Hall meanwhile is probably past his shelf life. Hard to believe he was ever present at QPR before joining us. The keeper situation is dire.

Glimpses of quality passing last night ... more evident is the lack of depth in defence ... Bola was decent , Sol is passed it ... hard to play 2 games a week and keep standards up ... although Pelts had his best Boro game he is very limited and certainly not a pressing defender ... nearly got a goal tho...

How can you blame the keeper for that?! We played the best passing football for years during that game but we got beat because we missed chances, as usual and Tav lost his marker (even though he should not be marking Ched Evans) and Bamba panicked and hit McNair with the clearance. Reckon Wilder will sort this put. Maybe Tav to Leeds, as rumoured in January may pay for an overhaul?

Cant really fault what wilder says tbh. He's given the team instructions and has seen that some players don't always follow those instructions during the game, and instead play for personal glory. He hasn't named names but made it clear publicly and im sure privately too that it isn't acceptable. Do things his way or you are out. Message couldn't be clearer.

I felt a bit sorry for Jones the last couple of games.

The lad looks like he is being asked to play a more defensive wing back role which just doesn't suit him.

I have no idea how he stayed on the pitch last night. I would have pulled him for Hernandez and left Whatmore up front.

Boro are currently in that football twighlight zone, where we play some really good football and look a good team but don't score enough and let too many in.

To he balanced though, we have had no luck, the goal on Saturday and the second last night was a pretty obvious handball.

Yep, I'll be amazed if he's the long term solution to that position. He's a winger being asked to play an unfamiliar role. Could be that there isn't a role for him in the side long term.

I actually think he defends quite well although his pace gets him out of trouble alot. Its probably not helping his game playing so defensive. He needs to improve his crossing and finishing for me.

Over the last couple of games he has reminded me a little of Traore in his early Boro days, where he would wait for a defender to commit, then use his pace to just run past them.

Players soon worked out to stand off Traore a little and wait for him to make a move, and it reduced his effectiveness. Have teams worked out Jones in a similar fashion?

agree. But that puts us weirdly in teh position of being 2 or 3 good signings away from being a very very good championship side. Put a player like:
- Scott Dann, Jake Cooper or Meikel Heilik at CB instead of Bamba
- Danny Drinkwater or Graham Shinnie at CDM
- Ben Brereton or Folarin Balogun at CF

Suddenly we are a very, very different propostion.

We're not a million miles away from where we need to be. Just a bit more quality in the middle defensively and up top alongside Sporar and it'll turn around quickly
