wildlife in the garden

We've noticed an increase in activity (or is it because we're able to just sit & watch for longer?). There have been rooks and jackdaws hanging off the suet feeder block, very bold. Magpies are very nervous when they're on the lawn, though.

A couple of pigeons fighting with each other then a pair of sparrows doing the same.
Nice morning like this , they need to chill out a bit 😁

Blackbirds, Robins and Dunnocks feeding their chicks. Blue t*ts in the nest box. Goldfinches yesterday. Spuggies always. All the birds bathing in the wildlife pond. They're always there ... but now I have time to sit in the garden and watch them.

Boro lad how do I post a video here, it says too large

I was sitting in the garden & the different bird noices now its brilliant, constant singing
Just had a red headed woodpecker in the neighbours tree, always hear it in a distance but never that close

Every day we get sparrows, quite a few blackbirds right now, collared doves, wood pigeons, blue t*ts, magpies (who are b'stards to smaller birds as a rule), gulls and yesterday a goldfinch.

Last year we had a sparrowhawk sit on the garden fence. All ruffled, it looked like it had been in a bit of a fight. Sat there for 20 minutes and then flew off. Made my day seeing it though.

Nice isn't it what we get in our gardens

Hooded crowes in the shared garden of my apartment block. I might start feeding them to get well in with them.

There are plenty of sparrows gathering nesting material. It made me wonder whether any sparrow couples don't bother with that **** and just enjoy their time without the need for procreating.

had a Common Blue (butterfly) this weekend, and a visit across the top wall off a pair of Magpies, for the past 3 days.

usually just see spuggy and blackbirds, wood pigeons, skems and in the winter a Robin.

nice to see
Just seen our first Common Blue today. There seem to be a lot of butterflies for this time of year.

Our daily visitors are starlings, Blue t*ts, Magpies, and Robins. Last week a Jay came to visit and a woody but not seen since. We have 3 squirrels that are daily visitors. Saw a Mexican stand off between 1 of the squirrels and Magpie over a Monkey nut the Magpie had buried and the Squirrel had found. All it needed was a Benny Hill theme tune.

We recently had a Jay bird in the garden, lovely sight too

We have what looks like a Mistle Thrush kicking about. It could be a juvenile blackbird, but I think it's too big for that.

We haven't seen any nuthatches yet, but it could be a bit early for them.

It's a Mistle Thrush. Should be noticeably bigger than a Blackbird. Song Thrushes look similar but they're smaller than Mistle Thrushes and their spots are smaller and they have more of them. If you catch it when it flies off, Song Thrush underwings are yellow and Mistle Thrushes are white.
