Wolves turn down £30m bid for Traore . . .

Good on Wolves!!! Not that he is or isn’t worth 30million but just good on them…either a new contract or higher fee in the future, keeping Adama in the wolves shirt and all the excitement that brings will be good news for their fans 👍🏻 Plus isn’t Levy ment to be the worst for player valuations (especially those of his own) so good for Wolves and egg on your face for Levy / Tottenham fans

Whatever happened to the £100 swoop from Liverpool that never came?
2 goals and 2 assists in his last 40 Prem appearances is hardly setting the place on fire. Nuno must still see something in him mind. From the game against Utd he's still showing some promise. Could end up like Project Emnes.

If wolves had a decent striker he would have a lot more than 2 assists, some of the chances missed on Sunday where worse than Britts
Doesn't quite explain away that he can only muster a goal every 20 games himself for £30m+ valuation?
Commentator remarked on Sunday that ar 25, he still has time to learn. Hardy a ringing endorsement of his performance.

He needs to scoring goals himself and not rely and some one else’s ability to benefit an assist. If your going to a top 5 club for £50m you need to be getting near double figures .

Put him in a better team, free of defensive obligations (or less obligations) and he'll prosper.

Wolves barely had a striker all last year, so ended up playing more defensive, and Traore was effectively treated like a wing-back for a lot of it, which is just not his game, or best use of his assets.

Look at him against Man U, he was given practical freedom and absolutely took them apart, and Man U are better this year than they've been for the last 5.

I thought he had end product now?

Nuno has been widely criticised on here for playing him as a Wing back.

This may a bullet dodged/outrun by him.

Despite Spurs being top at the moment, I dont currently see the as a top 4 club either.

I watched the wolves game at the weekend and he had clearly improved. He was fun to watch, his final balls were much better he did seem to drift out of the game in the last 30 minutes or so.

Also he had bulked up and looks massive.

I always thought his final balls were good, and with good pace, but Beckham couldn't pick out a striker in the box if there isn't one in the box, or if the "striker" is half asleep.

The last 6 months of Traore for us, he was unplayable, man v man, and that's why his average rating was way beyond anyone in the champo for that timeframe. His best asset is that teams had to double mark him, but we had no other options to take advantage of that benefit. We gained nothing with a man advantage elsewhere when the team was too slow and forced to be otherwise defensive due to limitations with the team.

Put him in a Man City, and he would rarely have to defend, or certainly not need to drop into his own half. He would also only need to play 70 minutes (due to strong, creative bench), and wouldn't be possible to double mark him as it leaves Foden or De Bruyne on his own, or the rest of the oppo end up knackered playing 8 v City's 9 remaining outfielders, which is a certain heavy loss in the second half.

I think the vast, vast majority of Traore's improvements came under Pulis. Nuno might have made him better defensively (or forced him to be more aware), but when that's at the cost of his main strength it's kind of pointless to most teams. It would be like changing Juninho into a holding midfielder. Wolves kind of got forced into that, as they had to play the way they did. He'll be better without Nuno, I think, and Traore should avoid following him if he wants to play his own game.

He looked much better at the weekend than he did for us, which isn't surprising he is playing with better players and has continued to develop.

What I would say is he still doesn't defend, in fact whee he is not on the ball even when wolves had the ball he was very static.

He was good for us, but he is better now.

He takes two defenders out of the game, and is so quick he forces the opposition defence deeper. They have to leave someone with pace in defence, and that means they don't have the pace in attack. His two goal tally against Man City a while back demonstrates the problem. Not every team is as brave as Guardiolas. Most won't take the risk.

So as a strategic option he's a godsend. Stick him up front with Kane and Son and he'd get more ball and probably more goals.
