Woman who stabbed her 78 Year Old Husband.

Absolutely shocking.

And all because of a side of bubble and squeak.

Well, that was the straw that broke the camel's back, but there was clearly lots more in their history to bring her to that point. A clear but extreme example of a relationship that is long past it's sell-by date.

I have little sympathy for her. If he made her life hell as she claims, then she should have walked away.

If she had have done she wouldn't be in prison now, her daughters' life wouldn't have been ruined, and the husband would still be alive.

I feel sorry for her IF she was in an abusive relationship - as she claims.
Other family members are saying something different according to Sky News

That was very, very chilling to watch. Domestic violence is abhorrent and should be challenged and tackled in every way possible, but even assuming she's been treat appallingly by her husband, if she's strong enough to stab him to death then she's strong enough to have walked away without killing him.

That is why in my mind, victim of DV or not, this isn't manslaughter its cold blooded murder.

Not condoning murder obviously but "walking away" isn't that easy for victims of domestic violence and controlling behaviour.

Not always as easy as just walking away. I've been in an abusive relationship. I stayed in it for way too long because I was young and daft and thought that I must be the problem. Taught me a lot though. I'll never be that easily manipulated and (figuratively) shat on again by anybody.

Agree. It’s a difficult one for the jury. They sat and listened to close members of the family who testified that their father had not been abusive to their mother in the last 20 years and that the defendant had not confided in them . But on the other hand sometimes it’s the mental abuse that often can’t be identified outside the relationship Itself.

I get that and I know it's heartbreaking howdifficult for people who are stuck in domestic violence to walk away. My point really was that she must have summoned some sort of inner strength to murder the guy and it was her choice to use that to murder him rather than walk away.

That video doesn't do the woman any favours. She appears very matter of fact, is devoid of emotion and it certainly gives the impression of someone not being controlled. That said, domestic violence is awful and despite what people say walking away clearly isn't that easy for women. It's still overwhelmingly women who suffer shocking injuries and even death at the hands of their partners.

Well from reading the BBC report his daughter says he was being painted as the abuser when he was in fact abused.
Truth is none of us were at the court case so none of us know and any opinions we hold are likely to be based on bias rather than evidence.
It seems she's tried to use the domestic abuse angle, without merit.

I think that is pretty despicable in itself.

Just wanted to add that I know nothing about this particular case. My previous comment on this thread was just based on my own experiences.

She's scum, I'm glad she's off to prison.

There's nothing heat of the moment about stabbing your husband to death as he's mid phone-call to an ambulance after you've already stabbed him because of a comment over food.
