Worst Ever Boro 11 - We have our team!

Fair enough we all have different opinions. Mine is he was a very average player. A lot of Boro fans will disagree but I watched him get roasted, in the Premier League especially, many a time. Luke Young however was class, absolutely agree. Just wasn't here long enough.
Does 'very average' mean he was our worst ever?

I think Phil Whelan should get a bye.
After all, he has given us 28 yrs of the Keith Lamb / fax machine joke.
Which never stops being hilarious 🥱

Something didn’t ring true with his transfer fee.. he looked alright with Rochenback.
From what I'm given to understand, Alves wasn't that bad a forward beforehand but wasn't cut out for aerial balls at all? Volleying would never be his strong point, nor headers.

The only way he excelled was with the ball pllayed into him on the deck, of which the only real regular creative player we had who had this as his mantra was Fabio Rochemback? When Rocky went, he took most of his supply line with him.

6 goals in 11 games his first season with us.

We struggled with a thin squad and injuries in key positions.. if only Southgate had ‘the knowledge’

St Ledger for me.
He's got to be up there. I remember when Southgate was pushing for us to sign him for around 4-5 million. That's when I knew he had to go. Caleb Folan then this donkey. Southgate was losing the plot.

Never said he was our worst ever. I was replying to another poster who thought he was good. We've had some top defenders at our club over the years, Curtis Fleming wasn't one of them.

St Ledger and Whelan. Will never forget Blackpool stuffing us 3-0 at home and he kept letting the ball bounce. Gary Taylor Fletcher ripped him a new one.

Very competitive this position but our CBS are….

St Ledger and Whelan! Poor Phil has had votes for every defensive position so far.

Saxby has earned a place on the bench alongside Lumley and Branco.

VOTING OPEN FOR RW / right sided midfielder.

My vote is for Gary O’Neil. Just a complete nothing player after coming with some expectation. I’m sure we have had worse players but he always stands out in the expectation vs reality debate and not surprisingly we learned in recent years he tossed it off completely here.

Hard to judge poor wingers though are normally it’s not their fault as they have been out their by a clueless manager or they are doing a job as we have no other options.

As most are strikers really but can’t get in the side up top or full backs that can run a bit player further up.
