Young Kavanagh signs on - good news

Graham's son Calum has signed terms. Good news as the lad seems to know where the onion bag is. Only 16 and one for the future, but it seems there was lots of interest in the young fella.
By he looks like his Dad.

Hopefully a star for the future

I can't wait for the day that we have a striker from our academy leading the line well and actually scoring.

Seems a long way off yet.

They always say it's the hardest position to bring a youngster through in, but other clubs seem to manage. Over recent years we seem to have a production line of centre halfs and solid if unspectacular midfielders.

Every team would love to bring through an home grown goal scorer. We have had a few at the club who showed early promise, but haven't really gone on to set the world a light.

Stephen Walker was showing a lot of promise, but looked like a fish out of water when he made his debut. There is still a long way to go for him and hopefully he makes it.

And yes, young Kav does look like his dad. I wonder if he grows grey by the time he is 20. :ROFLMAO:

I hope he's quicker than his dad. I remember watching him and thinking he was decent enough but just so slow. Time could be doing him an injustice mind.

Some top clubs after him. Put him on the bench - the new Trevor Francis( if you remember him!)
On as sub, scored the winner for Forest in the European Cup.
If this lad is as good as Francis.........he could score the winner, for.........o_O UTMB!!!!

great news, the highlights from the youths show him to be strong, quick and he knows how to shoot. Looks exceptional for 16. With us having a big clear out he might find the route to the first team isn't as difficult as would normally be

Saw Trevor Francis play for Birmingham very early 70’s. Night match at Ayresome. He had burst onto the scene as a 16 year old. Cab remember sod all about the game!

Can't remember if saw that match or the following year's fixture, but I reckon there would have been Francis, Hatton and Latchford up front, Alan Campbell in m/f who George Hardwick raved about, and probably the journeyman Gordon Taylor (who has probably made more money that the others combined).

Phil Summerhill main scorer, Mike Kelly, Trevor Hockey, Jonnie Vincent, George Smith we’re playing that season for them too

Jonnie Vincent, George Smith - aaahh, names that bring back so many happy memories from my teenage years.

Does he have two kids at the club then or is there another former player (not Pears) that has signed a contract in the last couple of seasons?

You'll be thinking of Craig Liddle's lad, Ben, he played against Spurs in the cup this season, and I seem to remember signed a new contract a few months back.
