Wasn't the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan, the beach landing scene, that went on for about 20 minutes?
That was pretty epic, but hard to say favourite as it made you realise how brutal that must have been in real life.
The opening of the Dark Knight and the Matrix were both good, and Reservoir Dogs.
