Where The Crawdads Sing

Haven't yet. But it's on the list.
We watched A Man Called Otto last weekend. It's great too. I had read the book and I thought they did well with it.
I will try and catch your recommendation over the weekend 😊

Liked it. I'm not sure why A Man Called Otto exists. The original Swedish film was fine as it was, so why bother remaking it?

Mrs read the book a while ago, watched the film a couple of nights ago (sky/ Netflix 🤷‍♂️) didn’t fancy, from the cover on the book I assumed it was a slavery type thing, it isn’t . It turned out to be really really good movie, as Brian M says, wonderful.
Mrs is reading the book at the moment so we'll wait until she's finished it 👍
Mrs Flash said the main character in the movie comes across not like you envisage from the book, but perfect for a film.

For the U.S. I guess? Although I admit to not seeing the Swedish film. Was it subtitled? Could be that?

For people who are too lazy to read subtitles. It is something that annoys me. I've never seen an American remake that was better than the original film.
Wife is a bit squinty. It's got to be good to hold her focus...

I'd just rather watch films in the original language and locations. Some of the American remakes are ludicruous. Get Carter with Stallone? The Wicker Man with Cage? They don't even have the language barrier excuse for those two monstrosities.

those films should never have been made. They might have well have cast the Rock as lead in the Little Mermaid!

Didn’t know there was an original Swedish version, do you know where I could find it?

I watched it years ago on a dodgy streaming site. Seems to be available on MUBI at the moment.

Lazy? I struggle to watch a film while reading subtitles, despite trying my very hardest.
I either miss something that is said or miss something happening on the screen. I don't speak Swedish so I'll probably watch the English speaking version if that's ok with you.
