New York and the air quality

Honestly some of the images coming from New York at the moment are terrifying . The city is full of smoke caused by wildfires occurring in Canada .

I think just stop oil are totally going the wrong way about it , but if politicians around don’t get their heads out of their arses and work together to stop the impending climate crisis we are looking at seriously ecological disaster

just stop oil are showing you that politicians are not the answer.

This used to happen every year in South East Asia when the farmers in Indonesia and Malaysia burnt the forests to make way for palm oil. This is Singapore below:

This isn’t farmers though , it’s wildfires caused by drought and high temperatures in places that aren’t meant to be that high

I said to my wife we had a very dry winter last year in my opinion and spring looks very dry here too so it’s inevitable something like that will happen here

You’d think they were on F***ing mars with that pic

Truly frightening . I’m kind of glad it’s hitting the yanks though , because a lot of their populace is still in denial about this .

I went to New York last year and the lack of the greenery in the city saddened me. When you compare it to London , it is miles behind. I went back to London last week and it made me happy seeing so many trees there , it needs to be more , of course

Talking to my friends over there it sounds incredible.

This is an app that monitors air pollution (plume) it normally only record op to 250-300 as the highest possible number for the worst air quality can go this is dubbed airpocalypse levels…

Being exposed to that air for a prolonged period of time is most likely going to reduce their lifespan too. Truly sad

The worrying thing is it’s up to nature when these wildfires are going to stop too . It isn’t a case of just stopping the farmers burning . If the drought in Canada continues and the wildfires continue , New York will stay like this.

The temp of thre planet has only risen by 1.5 degrees Celsius too. It is expected to hit 3 degrees Celsius under current worldwide measures . It won’t cause extinction in humans with a 3 rise, but it will make our lives much worse and reduced

As much as it seems like the politicians aren't the answer they 100% are. We can have all the good intentions that we want and individually do the right thing but if governments don't legislate then businesses won't change. It's not even just politicians getting their own countries in order, which is still necessary, but convincing the more emerging economies like the BRIC countries that they should limit their growth by being more environmental is the more urgent (and difficult) issue.

If everyone in the UK was perfectly green it wouldn't make a single difference to the planet. We're 0.85% of the world's population. Our influence is more important than the individual changes we can make.

There's a bit of green in central park.
