It appears The Sun’s claims

The ex editor of the sun, David Yelland, was discussing on the News Agents the possibility of extortion and blackmail. Although he made it clear he had no evidence that was the case.

What's the debate?

He's not the one who was allegedly buying crack cocaine.

There's no indication, that I've seen, that he was even aware that the person was allegedly using the money for drugs.
Depends if he knew I suppose.

"Huw, do you want another picture so I can buy loads more crack?"

"Yeah go on then".

Obviously I don't know the detail, but that'll be the next thing they look at.

In fact I don't really care about this at all if I'm honest, if nothing criminal has occurred. Get him back on the news. His wife will presumably want him to stop spending all his salary on nudes like.

We've all bought music from artists with drug problems. I've got a Sky subscription, some of which ends up in the pockets of footballers with little to no common sense. If he wants to use his share of my licence fee on this kind of stuff then it's not any different to me.

If this is as I suspect someone paying for content from a site like Only Fans, then it's not news, it's just how someone lives their life. Probably a problem for his wife, but that's none of my business.

I think its a bit more 'personal' than OnlyFans, but yeah, up to her how she views it.

Scary to think of the power these organisations hold, that they can run salacious stories, with an overtone of child molestation and thereby ruin a man’s life when at worst, he’s been unfaithful or has betrayed his family and perhaps a little unprofessional considering his profile. But still, no one should be able to whip up a witch-hunt like that and get away with it.

I do hope we can now get back to more serious news issues now (may Huw get better). I cant help feeling this has been an horrendous attempt by Murdoch's hypocritical rag to destroy the BBC and deflect from other serious stuff.

Nobody comes out of this story well.

The Sun should just be shut down, it’s a rag I wouldn’t wipe my backside with.

I’ve always quite liked Huw, I hope they just leave him alone now but I don’t see how a creepy old man can continue at the BBC.

What he did might not be illegal, but that certainly doesn’t make it right (aka. Schofield’s actions).

I agree, its a bit sordid. I wouldn't be bothered if they put him back on the news but I suspect it won't happen. He'll be in the jungle in 2025.

Like him as a presenter, but it will be a while if ever, he is on BBC again. Obviously got a lot of personal issues to deal with.

Must admit I thought the same as this started to unfold

We really have a problem with some of our written press, for too long the sun, notw and daily mail have been allowed free reign to spout nonsense.
It's not just written press, platforming of non-experts in Farage, Oakshott and Kate Andrews on the BBC repeatedly despite no one voting them into positions of power, GB News absolute bias and culture war, then there is the constant procession of seemingly paid and co-ordinated twitter right wingers, who can without any control spout political hate, from Hopkins, to Fox, to Corcoran, as soon as one is banned, another comes along and is platofrmed and promoted.

I’m with you, it’s all a large package isn’t it?

From GB news to posting on social media platforms. The newspapers I stated above are the right wing match day programmes for bigots.
