Red Faction disgraceful today

A man did die from a flare in this country.
Others have been injured.

You can ask someone to sit back down you can't ask them to extinguish a flare or throw it away because it will cause harm. They are not the same..

Absolutely ridiculous comparison do some research.
You keep saying this and i've looked and not found anything. I also asked you to send me a link to that news article and you haven't. I'm still not aware of anyone dying from a flare whilst in this country.

There have been far more people killed from crowd control (or lack of) issues in this country than there have by flares. I'm not being contrary, that's a fact. It leads me back to my original point. Apply the rules correctly or make them practical and safe.

Flares cant be safe, its a chemical reaction that produces heat and smoke,
You can't prevent flares impairing peoples view of the game.

I sent you a link regarding the death of a UK man from a flare, its been posted on this thread twice now. The men who used the flare got 3 years in jail for manslaughter.
The article was written because 20 years after that death an English linesman got hurt by a flare thrown on the pitch (2013) and the man who lost his father TO A FLARE was questioning why lessons had not been learnt.

Sorry edit .. flares cant be safe in a crowded environment to be precise.

You're talking about the man that was shot with a flare gun in Romania (and not this country i hasten to add). Something no one in this thread is disputing should be banned and not something anyone is advocating.

Took me 5 minutes to find these, deaths and injuries caused by flares, several in the UK.

@Humpty is this acceptable?
Teenagers, kids and adults getting hurt by these things and in the extreme killed!
Uk or abroad a flare is a flare, to suggest because the death was in another country then its acceptable is beyond moronic.

It was in Cardiff. It couldn’t be more clear from the article 🤷🏼‍♂️

I apologise i misread that it was in Cardiff. Having said that and to reiterate it was a flare gun and is irrelevant to this discussion.

The other injuries are resultant from flares being thrown and used irresponsibly. As i said previously something i wholeheartedly do not advocate.

No one had died then as you claimed?

READ THE FIRST ARTICLE.
A man DIED AFTER BEING HIT BY A FLARE and the people who threw the flare went to prison for MANSLAUGHTER!

Its clear you can read and write so I can only assume you are deliberately being an idiot.

Edit two articles cite deaths caused by flares, a Welshman and a Brazilian TEENAGER!

Teenagers in Wrexham and Telford hurt by flares all in recent history. Its very clear they are an issue.

RF are................."a bunch of d***heads these days, there are more and more of the hooligan element creeping in, mainly young lads."

I hope you have identified this "hooligan element" and reported them to the Club?

As a matter of fact the two I was chatting with on Saturday [before the match] are getting older by the day and the "core" are almost identical to what they were 15 years ago.

Who are these "mainly young lads"? Do you know them or what they look like? Do they sing and wear Boro shirts, shout on the team and encourage the West Stand and South West Corner to "sit down if you love Boro"? Almost the whole of blocks 64/63/62/61.60/59/58. Red Faction must be flippin huge!

Go find them around the fans bar before the game and talk to them - they dont bite and you might be able to add to the collection for the next display (y)

If you cant make that, look out for the next charity raffle held outside the South Stand and meet the "hooligan element" selling raffle tickets.
I`l post it in the date nearest Match Day Thread.
He probably doesn't go at all he's a troll.

Calm down Jonny. I apologised for the misunderstanding in my edit. I'm dipping in and out of this discussion. I probably should've given that article more attention.

How do you guarantee their safe use?

Just because this time it wasn't thrown, if we just turn a blind eye until it happens then the end result could be horrific for some unlucky Boro fan.

I have been in stands with my son when they are lit. My son has autism and already has to endure sensory overload to watch the sports he loves, when the flare was off he was distressed and coughing as were others around us. They may look pretty but guaranteeing their safe use is impossible to police.

Take the emotion out of this look at the facts and try and make a sane case for having them? I don't see how that is possible.

if you allow pyro to happen, then you have to police the use of them. And you will always have idiots who will break the rules

It only takes us to be losing 3-0 at home to Leeds and Sunderland and people will try throw them at away fans

People die from alcohol abuse but the club sell that on the premises themselves. You could go to the nth degree with it. If it's used responsibly then, i don't see the issue.
Is this really your best argument? Alcohol is legal, flares are not.

The club will not get sued for allowing drinking if you get liver damage, the club could get sued if it allows flares in a built up crowd and someone gets third degree burns.

this is a really silly comparison.

Flares are banned and for me thats right.
Bashing a tiny group of well-intentioned lads, who made a mistake and went over the line on Saturday - sounds like a load of drunk barrack-room lawyers after a skinful on Sunday afternoon.
So what action do you think the club should take if they identify the person or persons responsible, and should the action be different if they are members of RF than if they aren't?

And I don't mean a list of proposals to prevent it happening again, I mean what should they do about Saturday's occurrence.

A banning?
A strictly worded warning?
Nothing?
Or something else?

And if it was indeed organised by them, what should RF do?
Apologise?
Nothing?
Do it again?
C0ck a snook?

Such a dangerous action will not be ignored.

This is some of the info we were given at a webinar about pyrotechnics in football.. makes sobering reading - I can then add something about the constituents of that cloud of smoke.

• Consist of pyrotechnic composition that contains its own oxidant and will burn to completion (ie they don't go out - they continue to burn in sand, in water, in clothing etc).
• They burn at 700°C‐2500°C
• They produce toxic combustion products
• If confined or modified they can behave like high explosives

Nothing like deleting a key part of the post to remove context…. 🙄
