The Fishy?
The Chippy?
The Fish and Chip shop?
The Chip Shop
The Fish shop?
A Chipper (if you are of an Irish persuasion)?

It seems everyone calls it something different 😁😉

Can‘t remember last time I heard the actual place referred to in our house. Thinking back, when I was young it was always the Chip Shop.

Always Chippy for us. It’s rare these days we actually get one though.

Aside from the usual Cod Supper, I’m also quite partial to a battered burger in a bun with gravy 🤤

Some mind, were usually referred to by their actual names like Edna's, The Boro Fish Bar, The Coral Bay etc (all for varying reasons😂)

An English bar or restaurant.
When I was a kid it was the chip shop.

It was located in a small parade of shops towards the bottom end of Saltersgill Avenue.

In the same area I think there was a mini supermarket, a butchers, a sweet shop, a betting shop, the chip shop and an old fashioned grocery store. Sadly I cannot remember the names of any of them. Also, I might have missed out a shop or two or got some wrong.

Were they next to the Saltersgill pub, seem to remember the chippy from when I was at St Mary’s college.

The Chippy predominantly,
but occasional use of…..
The Chip Shop
The Fish and Chip shop

is ok and permissible, but anything else sounds wrong and should be punishable by public flogging

Yes, just down from the pub. At the bottom end of the parade of shops there were a couple of alleyways that went to the road we lived on.

Updated: When we were going to that school we either used the alleyways or walked to the tops of the road and turned left. When we got to Saltergill Avenue that way there was a slightly bigger supermarket, an off licence and a few other shops. On the other side of the junction there were some more shops.

The Chippy.

Sometimes say Chip Shop. Never fish shop.

Probably cos I don’t like fish. Battered sausage chips and curry for me
