Too be fair they were discussing a totally unrelated question at the time and there was only about a minute of the programme left.Fiona Bruce, quickly shut down a lady who raised the issue on Question Time last night.
Get Peter Jackson to do it. Did a great job with The Beatles.Surely some clever sound engineers can carry out a VAR check on the clip to confirm what he said?
That’s maybe why he felt he could do a bit of ‘self deprecation’ (doesn’t help though in this case really)Am surprised at that considering the main comedy script writer is from Middlesbrough and a massive collector of Middlesbrough town heirlooms and history.
He’s saying that he said because you’re a **** MP. Which doesn’t even fit with what he saidJust asking for a friend has anyone ever called a person a **** hole? Must be a thing only very cleverly people do?
People tend to be shithouses rather than shitholes.Just asking for a friend has anyone ever called a person a **** hole? Must be a thing only very cleverly people do?
Setting aside the original incident and the rather unimaginative lying which flowed from it, grammar is everything here in this discussion. Imagine "The Honourable Member for Stockton North's constituency has a third of children in poverty because you are a sh*thouse\sh*thole\sh*t MP" as a written answer to the question and you can see the Home Secretary's problem. I always think of sh*tholes as places, rather than people, affirming the usual slang usage. However "you sh*thole" as a direct expression of disgust with someone would seen acceptable, so reviling him for having the temerity to ask the question might work, but as a reason why his constituency suffers like this, it just doesn't scan correctly. The childlike urge to cover his sin with a lie is no doubt going to take some living down, but I have every confidence in his ability here, given his cool, measured and practiced in front of the mirror\on his SPADS response to the "batsh*t" quote he had to deal with in his first round of interviews as Home Secretary...People tend to be shithouses rather than shitholes.
Although Cleverly qualifies as a cu*tbucket.
I think you've got slim to no chance of him being removed\resigning over this. As a sign of how his character is being tested in the current circumstances it may point towards a more egregious error in the near future that will not be possible to cover up as easily in the news cycle.I've always regarded Cleverley as a particularly odious specimen. He was always the yes man trotted out to faithfully trot out the party line and always did it enthusiastically. His mask slipped and he's been caught showing his true colours. I hope this runs and runs and he never gets near high office again.
The script writer might have written the TweetAm surprised at that considering the main comedy script writer is from Middlesbrough and a massive collector of Middlesbrough town heirlooms and history.
Back to the party line and not putting Teesside first like he originally said then
Immediately accepted a total nonsense excuse and apology for a lie.
Unedifying to see HIGNFY having a snidey dig at the area too.
I prefer Stockton for a night out, some decent little micro pubs and bars. the Boro has very little offer except the over hyped Bedford and Baker street bars, but that's my opinion.Stockton really has had it tough.
It's never going to get support from central Government and the decline has been over many years.
A few shops shut and pubs closed during lockdown.
There's a new vegan cafe called Rise Bakehouse at the top of the High Street if anyone wants to support it and Finkle and Green looks to be reopening
The only way it will survive is if local people support the independent shops
Yes there a few ok pubs in Stockton. You can have an ok night out thereI prefer Stockton for a night out, some decent little micro pubs and bars. the Boro has very little offer except the over hyped Bedford and Baker street bars, but that's my opinion.
