The club needs to be very careful

If you're going to quote me quote me correctly.
I said relative peanuts.
i.e. relative to the fees other Championship clubs receive for players of comparable talent.
So yes I would say Tavernier, Spence and Akpom have been sold for relative peanuts.
By saying relative peanuts do you mean they haven’t been sold for peanuts then or they have? It’s a bit ambiguous.

Akpom - £14m
Tav - £12m
Spence - £12-20m
Rogers - £10-16m

We took spurs to the cleaners with Spence. Tavernier I think we could have got a little bit more maybe, Akpom was in his last year and would have been given away 10 months previously.

Are we any 'worse' than the large majority of champo clubs? The ones without parachute payments?

I'd say we spend far more than the majority. Also most of that 'majority' have to sell best players every season (often to teams like us).

We are an above average champo side. We get decent crowds compered to many. I'm not sure it's overly an issue. Do people only want to go and watch Boro if they spend? Strange logic.

The profit from any of the above player sales exceeds annual gate receipts. Although ticket prices and attendance are important to match-going fans they're much less important than they used to be re club finances

The mood around a club can change very quickly one way or another. If fans believe the club have written off the season in February(which i think they have) then they have every write to be angry people on Teesside make big sacrifices to goto the riverside. The club deciding not to invest and support carrick in the window to get a striker is having a real negative effect with fans and on the dressing room. We all know from the karanka days the pressure when you dont have attackers who score, it forces mistakes in other areas. This is what we are seeing now. Confidence is as low as i have seen it under carrick because we are toothless upfront. The clubs decision not to invest wholeheartedly in January could cost them a lot more than anticipated it could get very toxic and negative at the riverside unless carrick can magic something out of a hat. Renewals round the corner the last thing the club need is a negative spiral of results and fans voting with ther feet. I think the club have gambled and misjudged the importance of a new forward and arrogantly asessed they could get by.

Not doom and gloom reality this is what happens when you write of a season in feb.

As I say I’ll be there regardless im just making an observation.
It is a bit doom and gloom though. Regardless of whether you are correct that the fans will disappear if the team start to struggle, do you not think everybody attached to the Club knows this and doesn't really need your warning?

We are the best supported we’ve been for years, that won’t disappear over a few bad results. This place goes into full on meltdown mode and thankfully isn’t the majority of the fan base.

I’m glad we aren’t currently fighting in the trenches.

The majority of those in attendance yesterday may have not gone into meltdown but I can tell you they were pretty pi$$ed off and not at all supportive of what they are seeing going on, on and off the pitch.

Grow up.

Agree to disagree.

Patchy form is all that it is, it isn’t the end of the world.

We are running out of time Ww havent spent much time in the top 6 for a reason and thats because as hard as it will be to some on here to accept ,we simply arent good enough to be in the top 6.hopefully we will get a run going but i somehow doubt it. And carrick needs to start playing forss up front until lath returns

A couple of season ticket holders in my row of the North Stand left before half time yesterday. I've never seen them do that before.

Bloke in front of me left after 30 mins to go and get a pint.

To be fair, he’s been doing it every game for the last 10 years

Pathetic OP
Not sure it is. While we won't be back to Strachen days a lot of the OP says are good points.
What gets me is the club tell us absolutely nothing. Heard rumours of the Crookes deal yesterday which may or may not be true. But if it was true not one Boro fan would have any issues with the deal. If the club had announced it.
