That was a long time ago and they no longer follow the 'bootroom' philosophy themselves.Have you heard about that city on the Mersey that play in red?

True but I was just surprised that the boot room wasn’t mentioned. That was a long time ago and they no longer follow the 'bootroom' philosophy themselves.
The only one I could think of was Houllier - which to be fair was more like appointing two managers at once and seeing which one stuck. Genuinely forgot about the Anfield bootroom.True but I was just surprised that the boot room wasn’t mentioned.
btw I agree I’d hate is to go down the Agnew route again but I do think that’s that will happen.
Please God not Gary GillChris Wilder is an excellent manager and would be a good fit. However it won’t happen, plans are in place for the next season. Gibson will not be that ruthless and if my hunch is right Warnocks successor in 2022/23 is already at the club.
Once Warnock leaves Gibson will , as usual, limit his search to whoever happens to be available at the time, a policy that brought us the delights of Gordon Strachan, Gary Monk and Jonathan Woodgate - all top top managers for us.

Can‘t think of any more. Tito Villanueva after Pep at Barca? Steve Cotterill?? Bit of a gap in quality there like
Got one - John Carver. The Greatest Football Manager of all time. The only one I could think of was Houllier - which to be fair was more like appointing two managers at once and seeing which one stuck. Genuinely forgot about the Anfield bootroom.

He is no longer at the club, well not in his recruitment capacity anyway, from what the Gazette (i think) said. Please God not Gary Gill

My hunch relates to an interview Neil did a few weeks back when asked about it being his final year and he said something along the lines of Steve might want me to stay on and help in in some other way, you never know (i think he was potentially eluding to some sort of advisory role). That got me thinking how many Head Coaches/Managers would be cool with that.
I also pondered recent flip flop of so called styles of play and squad etc and thought who might be bought into this summers signings and be cool with Neil popping in from time to time to offer a helping hand. Kevin Blackwell sprang to mind as somebody who might fit that bill. He has managed Leeds and Sheff Utd taking both to play off finals, albeit losing them both. He would come cheap and the players would know him well enough.
Now don’t get me wrong, I am not advocating that is the direction I want the club to go in, but Gibson might just feel it is a simple solution ........ Warnock moving upstairs, costs kept to a minimum and continuity of staffing and recruitment buy in. Stranger things have happened at our club after all.
I agree. I think Leo will be our next managerChris Wilder is an excellent manager and would be a good fit. However it won’t happen, plans are in place for the next season. Gibson will not be that ruthless and if my hunch is right Warnocks successor in 2022/23 is already at the club.
