Old North Ormesby

Blimey the level crossing, remember that. As a kid on the bus with my mother going from Boro to Grangetown the driver swerved through the closing gates and I was chucked from my seat and bashed my head on the seat handle in front. My mother gave the driver a right ear bashing when we got off.🤕

Maybe to late now, but worth a claim these days.

The housing in the 50 60's was a disgrace. Back to back slums and no you could not leave your doors open.

The chapel was still on the Go , with the associated Derby and Jones.

The housing close to the crossing down towards Greenwoods pawn shop for some reason was a lot worse than near the church clock.

Agree with above. Our house was next to the newsagents, Tunnels i think it was called, across the road from the slaughter house. All the roads were named after rivers - perhaps in response to the constant flooding we used to have. Many times we had to live upstairs for days until the water subsided. Had to put your wellies on to go to the outside toilet in the back yard.
