Because the manager knows more than you ever will? What position is he?
We bought him as a midfielder with height and power.
We are playing him as a CF or 10. ? why
I wonder how many attend games?F***ing hell, it’s doom and gloom on here these days.
And we didWatching us struggle against Reading reminded me of the end of Woodgate. It was no better. I live in hope that we can put a shift in tonight.
An off night. Wow! It's funny how we all see things differently. I thought Crooks was excellent. Really put himself about, and pressed well. Broke up play. Won a number of tackles which regained key possession. Was involved in quite a bit of our link up play. Made a couple of good defensive tackles in our own box. Assisted McNair's goal, and very nearly got on the end of a McNair free kick.As a one off game Crooks was poor tonight. He won 1 header all night very late on. He looked like he didn't know where he was playing. And looked knackered. Which probably explains him having an off night.
Indeed a different view. From my view on the halfway line he seemed slow and ponderous and sometimes literally running away from the play. His passing was dreadful. An off night. Wow! Re' the headers, I thought he actually won the ball a few times without heading it, shielding using his strength/body, and bringing it down.Indeed a different view. Against Blackpool for their 2nd goal I asked my son what Crooks was doing as he literally strolled across the penalty area away from goal as the corner was taken. Leaving a huge gap in the penalty box.
Like others have said, not sure what we have bought. But next game count how many headers he wins. He's our target man at the moment and never wins any.
Not sure why I focused so much on him last night. Will track someone else next game. Howson perhapsRe' the headers, I thought he actually won the ball a few times without heading it, shielding using his strength/body, and bringing it down.
He did miss a sitter (header) from 4 yds out, but luckily it was already ruled offside!!
I must have watching a different game because Crooks was great last night.
The amount of ground he covers is incredible, he wins a lot of possession and most of all does what he should, in that he links the midfield with the attack.
I'm equally shocked that some people think his touch is poor too - he really can play, I think some people are being confused by his slightly ungainly style.
See this is weird. I do like him but last night I saw him contribute nothing at all. An odd one.I must have watching a different game because Crooks was great last night.

I thought he and Howson added the bite in midfield last night.I thought he was really good last night! I personally think a lot of it is about presence. He puts himself about, gets stuck, goes up for headers, wins free-kicks, gets into the box and will get goals. He’s a breath of fresh air, IMO.
Howson was much better last night. It definitely felt like they’d all had a rocket on Sunday morning. We can’t have any more messing about now. Just need to keep it up and make sure we beat Hull next.I thought he and Howson added the bite in midfield last night.
I think Howson hasn't been great recently but has been getting overrun in that position, especially when he had JLS as a partner. Last night the forwards pressed and the full backs were solid. That makes his job a lot easier.Howson was much better last night. It definitely felt like they’d all had a rocket on Sunday morning. We can’t have any more messing about now. Good point on the forwards. I think Watmores pressing and general attitude is infectious and rubs off on other players. The balance looked right last night and that was without Tav in central midfield which I have been crying out for so fairplay. If Bamba is ok to play again Saturday I would opt for the same team.
