didnt settle in the area ... think that reflected in his time on the pitch, paid way way too much for an average champo midfielder, ... should get a decent reception , most of the above not in his control

The moment Pulis said he wanted Sav and they said '7mil' we should have walked out laughing. Like any sensible person would. I simply couldn't understand paying it (very much like Fletcher).
I remember a Harris saying 'we got ridiculous money for Sav'. That says it all.
We've seen a lot worse. The issue is simply the fee. If we'd payed 1.5 - 2mil you'd have thought he was decent enough.

Its only my opinion, but in terms of the fee paid etc, pound for pound one of our worst ever signings.

I prefer not to look at it that way. He was by no means our worst signing and it wasn’t his fault of course that we massively overpaid for his services. Millwall had our eyes out particularly as they paid Wolves a fraction of the fee we handed over.
as a footballer he was average. Some games not in it, other played well (sadly few and far between). . Will always remember his goal at Spurs in the FA Cup

He was garbage. Some of his performances last season were shocking. League 1 at best. Didnt ever seem to give it all, cant understand people thinking that. Regularly jumped out of a tackle or just let people walked past him. Crap footballer and embarrassing we paid 7 million

6 goals and 4 assists from the midfield, and there were plenty of efforts that hit the crossbar or where the keeper had to pull off an excellent save to prevent it.
Joe Lumley's one man mission to keep a clean sheet against us with QPR stands out as a match where Saville was incredibly unfortunate to not add to his goal tally.
That's a decent return.
