We're paying a 'small club' premium to turn a player's head. Not a good look and might be divisive later.
And when Rodgers left Celtic for Leicester, Chris Sutton had a meltdown saying that Celtic reserves were bigger than Leicester. Its starting to become a trend. Players choosing upper end championship/lower end premier league clubs over scotlands big 2 clubs.
You would have thought the old firms supporters would have recognised that by now instead of continually being in a state of shock every time it happens.
Although this is hilarious it has nothing on the reaction north of the border when garrard left rangers to join aston villa.

And not only was Sutton a lucky and bang average he's a twåt as well. And when Rodgers left Celtic for Leicester, Chris Sutton had a meltdown saying that Celtic reserves were bigger than Leicester.
I guess it's easy to say stuff like that when you get chased off to Scotland because you're a bang average/***** Premier League striker.

Sutton was decent to be fair and those were the most recent days (late 90/early00s) when both Celtic and Rangers would have been around top 6 in the English leagues. Since then it's been a steady decline. And when Rodgers left Celtic for Leicester, Chris Sutton had a meltdown saying that Celtic reserves were bigger than Leicester.

I agree, I think they can't come into the English system soon enough personally.Sadly TV money domestically and in European competitions has ruined Scottish football. When clubs in the second tier of English football have more clout than the 2 biggest teams in Scotland, and third/fourth tier similar to the likes of Dundee United/Hearts/Hibs/Aberdeen there is something wrong, competition has been completely skewed.
We shouldn’t be celebrating that fact, we should commiserate.
He won the league as a regular starter and was top scorer whilst playing for Blackburn two years after Shearer left. He was pretty successful at Norwich before that too. He may have been very poor for Chelsea but that doesn’t mean he was bang average or lucky. And not only was Sutton a lucky and bang average he's a twåt as well.
I would say the biggest factor ruining scottish football is that pretty much everyone across scotland supports either celtic or rangers. If you go to the very far reaches of the north coast of scotland you find one or two aberdeen fans but even there most people support one of the old firm teams.Sadly TV money domestically and in European competitions has ruined Scottish football. As well as being one of the most inept football pundits it has been my misfortune to listen to: how on earth he got a contract at the Beeb is beyond me. He’s execrable. And not only was Sutton a lucky and bang average he's a twåt as well.
probably but that's like saying if Middlesbrough was in southern italy we would have signed Ronaldinho in 2003. It's so far from reality that it isn't irrelevant.I think he choose playing in the championship with a competitive team fighting for promotion is better than playing in a semi pro like league. That been said in all honesty if Celtic where playing in the championship he would have choose them.
we've been told over and over that other than finances all those are reasons not to come to Boro. In fact he knew their coach he wouldn't go up if he had no interest in listening, a poor relationship. It could be finances, ambitions, lifestyle, affiliations, relationships, advice, whatever. He may be coming to Boro for the money
It's still irrelevant and lily livered to not just be honest, their boss really wanted him they pushed hard for him, we blew them out of the water. What is indisputable is that Celtic have much greater financial clout. Their revenue is triple ours, their wage bill double ours and they are financially viable, stable and valuable.
That's pure speculation based on income, but not expenditure or business strategy or income glass ceiling. They have limited methods of lowering debt, they have a glass ceiling to income much lower than ours and that is a significant factor in why their wages-to-turnover aren't very high and can't be.They appear to have chosen not to pay enough to attract the lad, but be under no illusion they could.
