Nominees for the biggest transfer rip off in football league history

Isaac Mbenza or Benik Afobe to Stoke are worse. Met Mbenza in Brugges on a stag do before he signed for Huddersfield- load of my mates are Huddersfield fans, he told them he was signing and he was class = he was utter crap.

The Spanish guy Newcastle bought, no idea of his name. Think he broke his finger and never played a game.

I've probably imagined the whole thing mind...

Ignore the premier league, who is the biggest flop per pound in English football?
My nominee Britt Assombalonga 15mil. Scored some goals, on reflection should have cost about 3 mil maybe.
If you ignore the Premier League, then there won't be much of a thread! It's clearly Assombalonga. (Edit: I say "clearly" because isn't he the 2nd highest fee into a Championship club... AND he was crap, so surely must represent the worst value)!

Oli McBurnie to Sheffield United for £20ish Million was a pretty bad deal. (But includes Premier League. Quite a few worse ones than him though).

I think Barca and Real Madrid could have a list of their own; Griezman, Dembele, Coutinho, Hazard, just of the top of my head.

Sunderland were carrying some enormous contracts through their catastrophic double relegations, weren't they?

Players who, on their wages, should have done the business in this league.

He looked class against us! (went off injured I think)

Britt scorred an average of 11 a season in a mid table side who didn't create much. Realistically, he was a better signing than either Fletcher and Braithwaite who came in the same season, although yes, he cost more.

I'd put him as a better singing than McCormack for Villa (I think 3 goals in 20 games and cost almost as much) and Carvalho for Forest.

I don't think Britt delivered as much as we'd have wanted for his fee. But he's probably the most consistent goalscorer we've had at any level for a long time.

No way was he a better signing than Braithwaite!!

Jack Rodwell to Sunderland cost them a fortune in wages.

We’ve had some whoppers
Gary Pallister coming back
Gazza
Ashley Fletcher
Rudy Gestede
George Saville
Victor Valdes
Branco on £50k a week! wowzas!
Mido
Kris Boyd

No way he wasn't.

Braithwaite ****ed us over 3 times in 3 seasons.

He was an awful, awful signing.

If Assombalonga hadn't left on a free transfer, Braithwaite would be up there as one of our worst second division permanent transfers for value for money.

Braithwaite was a massive dud but didn't we at least get some money back for him and he was on loan that much they must have paid a good portion of his wages so financially speaking not as bad as britt pound for pound surely.
