Could it be Armstrong?
I think the "recently" refers to when they were given the quote for a Championship player. That's how I read it as well. Played in the Championship recently doesn't sound like he played there last season.
Pukki?
perhaps the quote was for Aleksandar Mitrović
he played in the championship recently, as did Ivan Toney
Out of contract, isn't he?Ben Brereton Diaz..
I think the key fact you omit from that argument is that one is going to a champions league team, the other to a championship team who finished 7th last season; ergo, one is more valuable because one is a more talented player.I've heard £15-20 million discussed for Spence on this forum, and I expect a top, young championship goal scorer to cost more than a top, young championship rightback.
It's only obscene when its other people doing it.
Spence is English premium as they is a homegrown quota to fulfill nowI've heard £15-20 million discussed for Spence on this forum, and I expect a top, young championship goal scorer to cost more than a top, young championship rightback.

Think you have to look at who are the buying clubs when setting valuations. Spence is wanted by Champions League clubs so £20m isn't unrealistic. Gyorkores is wanted by Championship clubs so £20m is unrealistic.

If Gyorkores, or any championship forward, goes to the PL then you can double the fee, not because its the EPL, but because they're more talented.
I think you missed my point, which more simply put, is that Spence is a more talented player, hence he's going to the EPL for more money that Gyorkores, who's moving to another championship club. What difference does that make to the selling club? They're the ones who set the asking price.
Really, they don't want to sell, so they're going to make no allowance for the status of the buyer. They're just going to state what they think a team would have to bid to make selling worth their while.
