Spain want to jail Shakira for 8 years

You have to admire the zeal with which this is being oursued, if, of couse, Shakira is guilty. Jimmy Carr had to pay back the money and got lots of gags out of tax evasion.

For the two years in question, she claims she was touring abroad a lot and not residing in Spain. In 2015 she took up residency and paid her taxes. It does feel a little bit vindictive by the Spanish authorities. She was offered a deal and turned it down so she believes she is right. Be interesting to see what comes out in the trial.
