    There were a number of wards around the country - obviously those with large Muslim populations - where the Gaza issue was pivotal, and the supine attitude of the major parties cost them votes. Something Labour should be mindful of come the general election, as I can't see it going away quickly.

    But clearly aligned on what for many proved a key single issue in the election, namely Israel's genocide in Gaza.

    My daughter lives there and voted 'for that'. As for her being thick, I'd see any intellectual contest between her and yourself failing to make it past round one. If the referee was feeling particularly sentimental.

    The Blackpool South by-election was the eye opener for me. Been Tory for most of its existence, yet Labour polled more votes this week than Conservatives and Reform combined.
