New Book published on Friday May 30th

After a dismal and disappointing season we all need some joy in our lives. Here's mine - A Cold Wind Blows, the second book in the Yngerlande Variations trilogy, is published by Burton Mayers Books on Friday May 30th. Like the first book, The Watcher and The Friend, it's set in Runswick Bay...

40% of Britons have not read a book in the past year

Is your stuff still available, Harry? Can you post some links? I'd like to have a look, as an aspiring writer myself.

    A Complete Unknown

    Music performances, that is.

    A Complete Unknown

Dylan apparently collaborated on the script and insisted that at least one entirely fake scene be included. Ever the man of mystery, he wont say which scene it is. Very enjoyable must see film. Chalamet is completely compelling and the performances are brilliant.

    Books - good reads

The Gallows Pole and Cuddy are both brilliant. I was very disappointed by Rare Singles - cliched and two dimensional, in my opinion. Will probably make a great ITV miniseries. I've just published this blog on my books of the year 2024. Doesnt really match the OP's criteria (sorry!), but worth a...

Can Scotland upset the hosts ?

I'm loving the footage of all the Scots in their kilts wandering around Germany. Takes me back to the 82 World Cup in Spain. A friend of my mate, who I was staying with in Madrid for the tournament, worked at the British Embassy (or British Consulate, not sure!). His specific job for the...

Charlton's Champions 50 Year Anniversary Dinner

This thread has sent a shiver down the spine and a tear to the eye. I know this is old guy reminiscing for many young uns on here (the equivalent of old guys droning on about Wilf Mannion in my day), but it's impossible to overstate how great that side was. To be seventeen and a Boro supporter...

Boro v Chelsea in a House Divided

Born and bred in South London. Could have been worse though - we're not far from Crystal Palace. That would have been a disowning, for reasons that are too complicated to explain

Boro v Chelsea in a House Divided

The Chelsea thing was one of a number of grievous parental errors....He tries to make me feel better by referring to Boro as "we" and "us", but his heart's not really in it

Boro v Chelsea in a House Divided

I thought it worth posting a link to this blog I wrote at the time of the FA cup game a couple of years ago. My son is still an unrepentant Chelsea supporter, deeply unsatisfied with with events post-Abramovic. His birthday is next week, so his present is a no-brainer. You guessed it - tickets...

All The Light We Cannot See

Brilliant book (as is Cloud Cuckoo Land by same author). Netflix thing is beautifully filmed but the script stinks. Scenes with Mark Ruffalo and little girl are embarrassingly cheesy

    Noticeable tactical tweak

In all of the sound and fury on the board regarding transfers and the start of the season, this is the key point. The interplay/interchange between our midfielders and forwards last season was thrilling to watch and generated loads of chances. Akpom had an exceptional season. 29 goals for a...
