Iran v Palestine 17:30 Asian cup.

Quite a lot of coverage of Afcon, but very little of the Asia Cup.

While I think African football has more strength in depth, I think the strong Asian teams produce a consistently higher standard of football than the Africans.

Afcon has a bit of a reputation as a low scoring football too: plenty of goals in the Asia cup already.

That’s probably true. Asia has produced a World Cup semi finalist. Even CONCACAF has if you go back far enough. Only the African Federation hasn’t yet (if you ignore Oceania which is kind of a joke since Oz left).

Well Morocco did reach the semis last time.

I feel like Japan, South Korea, Oz and Iran are such regular qualifiers they've become quite adept at WC football. 3 of the at least have decent domestic structures etc.

I went to the UAE for the last tournament, did a game at each of the eight grounds and saw every team that qualified apart from Australia.

Me and my mate nicknamed it the Tinpot Dictator Trophy. Teams included UAE, Qatar, Iran, Iraq, China, Yemen, Saudia Arabia, Lebanon and North Korea
