Rav's gonna be watching

Ravanelli wages are often quoted in 1997 which added up to the Legend bit too. Legends can be good and bad and Rav was an example of both. As a pure forward and when at his best he was the best I have ever seen at the Boro.

The question we really want to know the answer to is, will Bart Ogbeche be watching the game tonight.

Does he even know we're in a semi-final?

If you scroll through the edition of MSS in the link below, there is a short piece from 2000 written by Rob Skilbeck entitled 'Ravanelli: Villian or Victim?'

Some of the events in the article have been touched on in this thread, but it also mentions a few events that occurred during Ravanelli's time at the Boro that have not appeared in this thread, and therefore gives a little more context. It also references the 'Ferrari' quote mentioned by @The_Lizards_Jumpers a page or two back.

I though it worth posting as it is contemporaneous; it's good to have the memory refreshed.

Surely, all of McClaren's cup winning team are legends. They gave us our first and only piece of silverware and deserve that status. I would even put McClaren in that and I have a huge dislike for the man. ;)

How old were you when we won the cup, perhaps you're just a bit old to really appreciate what he did ?

Never seen anything about him that didn't make him seen like a ****.

Iconic celebration though, copied on playgrounds and fields around the country.

Thanks Picto_Leng for posting that. I think it fairly represents some of the background stuff from that infamous (dare I say legendary) season at Middlesbrough Football Club.

I have fond memories of Ravanelli, I’m sure he did things wrong but you can’t doubt his footballing ability. He knew how to score goals and he should have been part of the team that won us our first major trophy. I’m sure his reputation would be different now, had we beat Leicester.
