Do you think Carrick still wants to manage us?

just to add I'm a fan of Carrick and not getting on his back, his management skills are being tested to the max and at present he's not coming up with the right solutions. You could compare it to Vinnie Kompany at Burnley, he's sticking to his principals and the way he believes the game should be played, fair enough but it's going to get Burnley relegated. Carrick is sticking to his system and the way he wants to play, sometimes you just need to adapt to the situation and sacrifice something to ultimately get better results.

In answer to the OP, yes I think he does. It's going to b a big summer for us though. We have to back him with quality rather than potential.

Next season is massive. If we don't make a massive push I can't see him hanging around.
If we don't make a massive push and we aren't successful then who will be coming in for him? Will West Ham want a manager who has failed to get in the play offs of the Championship twice, teetering on the mediocre? I can only see clubs coming in for him if the club is successful.

Something just doesn't feel right within the club, over the last month we look a shadow of our former selves.
we've had too many injuries to compete. I think some players heads have dropped because of it. The sale of Rogers has hurt us and I doubt Carrick wanted him sold. But, I'm sure he'd accept it if it meant a warchest in the summer. Carrick has seen enough now to know what's needed to win in this league. He's seen how we haven't quite got the required quality to play to his philosophy. He's also felt pressure for the first time as a manager, if he doesn't make a success here, then he isn't going to be a prem manager, which is, I'm sure what he wants. He isn't the kind of guy to run away from a challenge, but he will expect results int eh transfer market this summer, 2 or 3 high quality forward players to be brought in.

I don't think it's an unreasonable question considering we didn't get a striker, we lost Rodgers, Crooks leaving after the window with no replacement, our form is terrible, and the way we're playing is bloody awful.

If we don't make a massive push then he may be under pressure to keep his job.

I support Carrick, and I think many of us have almost given him a free pass this season due to the injury crisis, but we're now not too far away from having a fully fit squad.

I've been questioning some of his decisions as of late. His team selection was wrong at the weekend, and I also feel his in-game management was poor.

He's learning on the job and it's shown at times this season.

Indeed, but I imagine he isn't bloody-minded enough to be laying the blame for that at everybody else's door like perhaps our last manager (or two) would have.

Sure, he may expect 'good' signings in January, but it is still him who is responsible for getting whatever is at his disposable out on the pitch competing every week. And I've no doubt at all he's fully aware of that.

Carrick has made mistakes hes not untouchable not trying forss at times up top when we dont have a fit striker beggars belief!!!
Im more concerned about playing out the back at Chelsea after already conceding 4 but nope we still did it.

That shows we stick to the plan regardless and that’s not good.

It’s not really bad either, most managers stick to their plan. At 4-0 it’s arguably a waste of time to suddenly start asking the players to do something different entirely to what’s been drilled in to them. We played out from the back against Aston Villa too and did it really well. I’d take it as a bad sign if anything if our manager just abandoned his footballing philosophy whenever we were losing.

Depends if Carrick agreed with the sales of Roger’s and Crooks if he’s being undermined he will be off.

This is just how i feel about carrick he wont change the system because he does;nt know how too as he is still learning the game @ our expense.

Of course.
Time to baton down the hatches.
Accept we didn't get who we wanted in January.
Acknowledge we've made errors in selection and game planning.
Keep behind Carrick and the lads.
The time to *batten* down the hatches has already passed.
Unless you're suggesting that there are rougher times on the horizon that we need to prepare for?
I was hoping things would start to get better, not worse.

I really feel for Carrick this season. What he managed to do last season was fantastic, but the club gave him the tools to do the job. To not back him the same way and try to build on that was a very strange approach from the club. I get the not wanting loads of loan players who all b***r off at the end of the season and we have to start again, but we are going to be starting again this summer anyway. It has backfired and can imagine Carrick will be pretty miffed off. I think he still wants to manage us though, and he has the backing of those that matter. Many clubs would've made a change after the start we had.

MC has been a great addition to what was previously an absolute mess, so I’m not going to say anything negative about him because let’s face it we haven’t had a good time with the crazy injury situation this season which for the most part has been nothing short of a disaster.

Moreover, I doubt any team with the sort of injury carnage MC has had to deal with would have fared any better, so overall he’s done ok given his experience.

Many fans however want instant results and everything rosy-lea most weekends but after you takeoff your rose-tinted specs and look at what we have to offer upfront then maybe we’re not being honest with ourselves.

Let’s hope we can get Latte and Jones back soon so we can at least have a grandstand push for the playoffs.
