Steve Gibson your time is up!!

Wanting a billionaire owner to take over will get us where, exactly? Gone are the days of ploughing millions and millions into players when you don't have the marketing reach of a top 6 premiership club to recoup your outlay - or at least offset a lot of it. You can't just pump money in to clubs any more because of ffp rules. So how would a billionaire owner benefit mfc?
Cheaper tickets? That just brings less money into the club to balance the books no?
If people think Gibson has lost his passion for mfc, how much passion would a foreign owner offer instead?
Good points.

The reason our tickets are higher than everyone else's and yet we still have nothing to show for it and need Gibson to put in £100+m is because of Gibson. He flip flopped on expensive managers, spent nothing on proper recruitment and allowed dodgy managers to spend whatever they wanted on bang average players. There was no real scouting or analytics. It was all of school managers and brown envelopes. Some of the fees we've paid for really poor players has been ridiculous and fans are expected to contribute to cover nearly two decades of **** poor decision making. Other than a brief flirtation with Kenyon, which contributed to some actual success, he has refused to involve anyone with any knowledge of running a successful football club. Every decision he makes commercially is the lowest cost option. Fans are expected to pay premium for cheap tat. Nearly 30 years to sort out serving beer quickly on the concourse. Everything is so parochial, small time and amateurish. He's failed to grow the fanbase and he's now trying to squeeze the revenue needed out of a dwindling number of fans.

The short of it is that other clubs don't have to charge fans so much because they aren't trying to recoup the costs of decades of mismanagement.

Are the kindergartens on break again, we seem to have a lot of immature kids on here throwing their dummies out?
How about this.
Support your team regardless, and trust that the man at the top has the club's best interests at heart, or don't, and go and either withdraw your money out of protest, or 'support' somebody else. (I say 'support' as it's pretty clear that all some people seem to do is moan and slag off with very little signs of actual support).
Yes it's your team and you can say what you like about it, but it's also Steve Gibson's team and he puts his money where his mouth is at a far greater extent than the fans.
When I left Teesside in 1984 I never thought I'd see my team playing in FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup finals, NEVER in my wildest dreams did I expect the Boro, my team, to get to that level AND WIN A CUP!
And it's thanks to Gibson that they did. AND I'm convinced he can get us to those levels again.
I have faith UTB. In Gibbo I trust.
I deplore this panicky call for 'sell to new owners'. If we sold out to the likes of the Saudis like the Toon did I'd walk away from supporting the Boro as that would not be the team for me, selling its soul for money from people with very questionable morals and ethics.
But if you'd rather that then fill yer boots...

There seems to be this opinion amongst fans that Gibson is having to charge premium prices for season tickets due to the mistakes he's made over the years, but it would be interesting to know how our ticket pricing compared to other clubs whilst we were an established club in the Premier League, before he started making costly mistakes.

Why use the worst ownership example Saudi's to compare gibson to. I would walk away to if it were saudi investment as well but there are far more paletable options you choose to ignore for obvious reasons.

What a **** you are, seriously.
Diego is far from a moaner, or a baby; he is a passionate fan who has the balance to show emotion and sometimes criticise, not just clap like a demented seal.
Try it.
I agree that Diego is a passionate fan but you have to hand it to @Quicksilvera he's just owned him with the 'baby' craic. It did make me laugh.

Agree wholeheartedly to support the club - but not wholeheartedly.
For me - No Saudi like money
For some - not with rip off ticket prices
For most - with or without Gibson

So, let’s all stop with the SG centric comments about our club.
Or, we change from ‘our’ to ‘his’ - and, for me, that is part of the problem.

Am arranging a Q and A with Steve Gibson - so you can submit your question to him. Am working on a format now where people can provide questions and he will answer them.

Can you ask him;

"Have you actually answered these questions Steve... or have the club conveniently provided you with party line responses"

Q and A with the club feels like the perfect epitome of a waste of time.

Very possibly !
I think Gibbo has set himself a 4 year plan with this set up to get into the EPL. If he does he will sell at first opportunity. He will be near 70 and imho he owes us nothing. Best Chairman we’ve had and still one of the best in the league
It’s hard to look at our time since promotion to the Prem and find evidence of him being one of the best chairman in the league.
Couple that with ticket prices and .. he is out of touch.

We did splurge 50m on players when we first came down including a guy that went on to be a Barca striker, a 15m striker, a guy that's served us for 7 years in midfield, our most capped international ever, etc.

We did pay for that mind through failure to get promoted and incurring the FFP-debt that came with 4 year contracts on 25k/week and big transfers.

We've finally cleared that FFP-debt this season, while bringing in hefty transfer fees. We haven't had the opportunity to invest before, like we will this summer. If we do not spend big this summer, then yes, Gibson isn't showing ambition, but I'll wait until after the summer before donning my tena pants.

Not sure I buy that excuse for this coming seasons prices, the prices would have gone up significantly in 19/20 and 20/21 that's when the money we committed to FFP was at it's highest while our income was at its lowest as parachute payments plumetted. We got through this by signing players like Bola and Morrison and installing a cheap rookie manager

Exactly this.

I'm surprised people don't realise this by now. Billionaires don't buy football clubs to make money, increasingly these days they buy them as part of their overall 'portfolio' - a status symbol - and in the case of nation states for PR purposes to sportswash their way into acceptance by the western mainstream.

Middlesbrough have ZERO chance of ever attracting a billionaire owner. None. We have no marketing value or 'status' outside of Teesside for starters, and we will never have a high enough profile to have any PR value to some dodgy regime.

We've been extremely lucky to have Gibson be custodian of our club for 30 years now. Just look at Derby and Blackpool on how it can go t!ts up if you have charlatans take over. People need to accept that the days of signing Juninho, Rav, and Emerson are over. Even if we make it to the Premier League, we will no longer try and compete to sign the calibre of players we once had. Its about looking after the club and its regular everyday employee's who work for it, and giving Teesside a club that competes year after year at the level its at, and not allowing it to repeat 1985/86.
