To be honest, I can't totally make my mind up about him as a player. Like you say, pretty good champo player, but maybe lack of pace may hinder him in say the prem. Whereas someone like Rogers, although his stats weren't great, I could see him eventually stepping up to the prem. However, I think he made a mistake in going to Villa and would have been better off continuing his development with us. I can see him being back on loan to a championship club next January.
 
It’s something the club definitely needs to get better at… any first team players of the right age, get their contract extended when they get to the final 2 years.

We’ll probably be held to ransom sometimes in terms of wage increases and “signing on fees”, but it’s got to be better than letting players get to the final year of their contract and having to accept any half decent offer for them
 
I'll never forget, not long after we signed him and I think it was one of his early starts. On the way out of the match, just outside the navvy, this bloke spotted his mate across the crowd and shouted to him "what did I tell ya about McGree - never a footballer in a million years". The confidence he delivered the line with was impressive, a bellowing voice cutting through the fog of inane after-match chatter. He made sure people noticed him. I often think about that bloke, I hope he's ok.

There was someone on here the other week who claimed to know, or had at least met, McGrees brother and had been told by him Riley has no plans to move anywhere.

I've seen the rumours that a club in France wanted him and he wanted to go, but I don't think there was anything in the media or even from any of the dodgy ITK "journalists" on twitters.

So hopefully just made up nonsense based on the fact he wasn't starting at the beginning of the season.

We’ll find out soon enough - i would think there’ll be interest in him come summer, especially with him being in the final year of his contract

Yep. I really like him, clever player and technically very good.

But I'm not sure I see him attracting too much prem interest. He's not quick, he's not a goal machine, he's not strong or powerful and there are plenty in the top flight just as good technically. He's not even in the starting 11 for a very average Australian side.

That said if he doesn't sign a new deal then we may decide we need to cash in. There will be interest in that scenario, but not sure it'll come from the prem.

I could see him ending up at Forest or Bournemouth
 
When I mention that is worth more than what we paid and that he has progressed I am normally shot down.

Also are posters changing their mind on Azaz yet - A week ago he was crap according to a lot of experts on here.

This whole 'won't cut it in the Prem' stuff I don't fully buy. You look at half the Luton players - Ogbene from Rotherham? - and they;re doing a job, winning games/ Tavernier, he's good for Bournemouth, becoming a regular starter. A lot of it is about personality, the moment a team is in, as well as raw ability.
I love Riley for his spirit. Remember that video Crooks shot in pre-season McGree had just signed. They were walking off the pitch and Crooks awkwardly provoked him to try and say something (McGree had just signed) and Riley said: "I just love this game". That sums him up for me. He's a footballer who plays like a fan, because he loves it.
 
When he first came I expected more from him , but he’s certainly settled in now . Hopefully we can get settled side with him in it sooner rather than later .
As a prem side we can hold on to our player possible better than more than half of the league .
 
Reminds me of Jimmy James Morrison..
Not only in how he plays , but also would only be fully appreciated once not here.
If I was in charge, THATS the standard of effort and talent that would make you in the top earners at the club.

A front 4 of McGree, Azaz, Jones and Lath would be interesting.

I'd love to see Lath come back into the side and finish the season strongly, but either way we need to sign a striker with pace in the summer.

Azaz finish yesterday was technically brilliant and i think overlooked chipping it over from such short distance so the keeper got nothing on. Cant help but think latte would have just blasted it and hit the keeper in the same position. Very Slavenesque
