Oh man that picture is heartbreaking. Whatever people say about Staffies being lovely dogs, and I’m sure they can be, they are responsible for a disproportionate number of attacks on other dogs and people.

"But the dogs are still staying down the road. The police can't take them away because apparently it was just a dog fight and I only got bitten because I was trying to separate them. I hope that whatever happens now might stop it happening to somebody else's dog. I just felt so helpless. There was nothing I could do. Every time I close my eyes, I can still see it."

It's been said plenty of times on this thread but the owners need to be punished. If you've got a staffy that you know will attack other dogs - which the article makes clear is the case here* - why the f*ck is that dog off lead in a field or park?

Whilst there is no denying staffies have the physical capabilities to cause harm, I believe the number of incidents involving Staffies is largely due to several other factors:

The number / population of them in comparison to other breeds that have the physical capability to cause harm.

Similar to the above, the fact they many of them are owned by unsavoury characters who have opted for them based on their appearance. (Effectively they are the easiest / cheapest “status” dog to acquire).

I think they are the victim of circumstances outside of their control as opposed to being inherently dangerous / vicious.

Do I really need to say this again. All dogs are inherently dangerous. Until All owners recognise this then injuries from dogs will always occur.

Dogs are brilliant, but they are all capable of damaging a child and many are capable of damaging an adult.

Be honest about the responsibility of owning a dog.
