MFC position on digital ticketing….

Redlips wanted confirmation before renewing for his/her family that he could retain a hard plastic season ticket. I am anti-digital, I know some fans like them. I hate the idea.

Response from mfc to redlips…..

“Everyone who has a current season card will keep them and these will be renewed, once these have broken or if they are lost then we will have to move you across to digital”…

Got a terrible feeling that if I renew(unlikely at this stage) that my ticket will all of sudden stop working and I will be forced onto the digital platform. If you lose or your ticket is broken then your are forced into a digital environment against your will. It is disgusting.

Clearly the fans forum were not consulted on digital ticketing last season. The clubs lied to the fans.

What I want to know is how long before the entire stadium are forced to go digital? Why not let fans who want to have a hard copy card keep them and for those who want to sign up to keep them. Can these issues be raised at the supporters forum.

Last season I asked for a full refund when digital ticketing was announced. I was promised a hard copy card as long as I wanted it.

The clubs PR over renewals has been horrific. This news such a big issue last season it should have been addressed.

Every game is available on tv now, you are going as you enjoy the experience.

We should all have a choice. At the moment I don’t have the ability to exercise my choice for my (different) preference either because the glacial pace of the digital rollout hasn’t reached me. We should both have that choice both as soon as reasonably practical, and for as long as reasonably practical. I suppose we could just swap seats, but I like where I am! Feels like this has been badly handled in pretty much every way imaginable.

So they've told you what you wanted to hear "Everyone who has a current season card will keep them and these will be renewed.." yet they've "lied" and it is "disgusting"? And all this based on a "feeling"? You might renew, you might not, yet asked for a refund on last seasons season ticket? Honestly this board man! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

They are not going to turn you away from the stadium and turn away your money. There are lots of people that have not gone digital for a whole variety of reasons. And the stance is that they want their custom.

What happened last year was the turnstiles needed an upgrade - the company involved Fortress said we can also make them digital at the same time. It will be cheaper to do it now. That process happened and yes they did not properly consult with the Forum or Fans - and there have been a lot of apologies since and lots of undertakings never to repeat this.

But the club employed a digital expert to research the process at other clubs eg Man City. The recommendation was to do the changeover stand by stand at Boro not all at once. That completely floored Coventry first game - did you see their queues? It took most of their fans 30 minutes to get in to the game.

I think many of the early problems were caused by techies not communicating to the club and the fans things that to us were so basic. ie tap the ticket now do not insert it. As far as I can determine the club found this out 24 hours before the first kick off. Now, obviously we should have had a trial run to find out these sort of problems and do something about it. It had to wait until the 2nd game where I was able to ask for signs outside the turnstiles and staff inside to assist as well as outside.

But no. You will be able to use your ticket next season - what may happen in the future is that digital ticketing will allow cheaper options, without postage etc needed. SeekGeek are guests at the next fans forum we will ask them about the £1.50 admin charge even for printing at home and whether there will be ways round this in future. It is their charge by the way not the clubs. Just like where banks pass on charges on all transactions, cheques and digital. so no one escapes the charge,

The rest of the stadium is being rolled out very soon. The club is now ensuring that there is maximum support offered to fans when each stand or group of blocks makes the switch. I think this is really good concentrating on one part of the ground at a time and making absolutely sure everything is ok there before moving on to the next area. It will all be done this season.

Hi Rob. I asked this question on another topic yesterday but it got lost amongst other things and maybe it is something that should be brought up with the club. Are MFC not breaking some sort of advertising standards by not including non-optional fees in the face value of the ticket? There is no way to avoid a post or print at home fee when buying online so it should be included in the face value. It even has the cheek on the ticket purchase page to say £31, £0 Fees which isn't true. This link to the Advertising Standards Authority shows multiple examples of things like booking fees having to be included an the various arguments some companies have used in the past.

This place when it comes to the price of football and tickets is just wild.

Banks don't pass on transaction fees. We get free cash withdrawals at most ATMs despite the card issuer paying the ATM provider a fee. We don't pay extra to pay on credit cards any more.

The £1.50 fee for any sort of ticket is bonkers. I don't understand why season card holders pay a fee when the new membership scheme gives you fee free purchases I think - certainly the old Boro Pride one did.

There is no way on earth it costs SeatGeek £1.50 to process our transactions. More like £0.015 from my experience in transaction processing. And yes that covers people and tech costs they incur. They are ripping us off pure and simple.

Oh I didn't see this sorry. SeatGeek the ticketing company we use have accepted an invite to be guests at the next Forum meeting. The club insist the agents set the fees. As do Ticketmaster and many other ticket providers. Boro claim that they all insist on adding for any transaction as the ticket agencies admin cost. So we can ask them if this is true etc. The club also say they are not passing on the full postal cost to us.

Business accounts pay on every and any transaction. Am thinking of that I guess as many businesses are now switching to ordinary current accounts to avoid the transaction costs aren't they. But as said above SeatGeek are coming to the next Forum meeting so we can ask them for answers about the admin costs. Let's hear what they have to say.

Whether the fees are appropriate or not is a different question. I understand that there could be a cost associated with it but it should be up front and part of the face-value price because it is unavoidable. There are advertising standards that they seem to be side-stepping.

They are 100% passing on the full postal cost. If you buy more than 1 ticket you pay multiple times and it doesn't come in separate envelopes. If you print at home it costs me, not them. All options are the same £1.50 fee. They pass on more than the full postal cost when you purchase from the club shop as well because they charge £6 for delivery but it only costs them £3 to post a package.

I too would like to have a physical card for the forseeable future. It must cost the club £2 to produce and another £1 to send out - but it say lasts typically 5 years - that's 60p per season.

Some of the stuff you read on here is difficult to believe - A company probably has a £200k contract to install all the new digital turnstiles in a major sports stadium and doesn't explain to the customer how to use it

Ref Seat Geek - I can understand the £1.50 for first class post, but for print at home - unbelievable - aren't they charging for £1.50 per ticket too not per transaction - honest its money for old rope - they must get around £400k a year from Boro fans and make 90% profit.

I imagine it's a lot more than £200k, and you'd think the club would insist on some sort of knowledge transfer / change management as part of that contract.

Not sure I understand this thread.

So the club are saying we can keep our physical tickets but you are still complaining? I don’t understand the problem

....because he thinks that the club will sneakily "break" his ticket to force him to use a digital one based on a "terrible feeling".

Still at least he's moved on from the statement that he's been "forced" to get a digital ticket, so that's progress.
