Definitely legit, no warning flags there at all.
 
I would see if you could transfer them some money as well before you attempt to collect it.
 
I did once over hear a conversation at the hairdresser's. Someone sent 10k to her friend who was stuck at a random African country with no money. Strange she didn't try and call her etc. Her friend was around the corner in Boro.

We might think we won't fall for a scam but I know several sensible people that have. I nearly did a few weeks ago after I had just renewed my TV License. Next day got an email explaining the payment had not gone through. I checked and it had gone from my account and then checked the license number and it was different. No idea how they knew I had just paid which was worrying. Others, usually older can be victims of these utter barstewards.

They didn't know, just coincidence but if you send it to enough people then a few are bound to have just renewed.
