His sister lives near me and a couple of friends know her. If it wasn’t for the pandemic he’d probably have been playing in Italy serie B, he apparently had a great offer but his mum vetoed him taking the kids to another country when granny couldn’t travel to see them. I’ll try and find out what his plans really are, seems a bit unambitious for him 😉
 
Gibson had him earmarked for post playing greatness form an early stage in his time with us.
But something happened that can't be talked about.
Don't be surprised if he has a successful coaching/managing career.

I don't think anything 'happened', other than he got told he wasn't needed as a player anymore. Which isn't a surprise we all saw that coming. He got an offer from Serie B, but then Birmingham came in, while he was mulling over with his family. Chose Birmingham purely so his kids were closer to grandparents and so he wasn't isolated in a foreign country during pandemic times.

I really wouldn't be surprised if he's back with us one day

Was it that incident on the camping trip?
 
Friend got offered a 1 year extension here on reduced wages when his contract ran out in 2020.

He was offered a 2 year deal at Birmingham on more money.

He just chose the longer, better deal, I can't say I blame him.
Why make **** up about there being an issue behind the scenes?
