Malcolm Christie

It’s not hard to work out who to invite though. You check which players played in the League Cup campaign and you set about contacting them and asking them if they’d like to join in the celebrations. That’s everyone from Southgate and Juninho to Ricketts, Christie and Carlo Nash. Plus McClaren the backroom staff. It’s blown my mind that they’ve not invited everyone, including players that scored the goals that actually allowed it to happen. It’s absolutely mad.

I’ve looked it up and the following players haven’t been mentioned but played in that cup run:

Middlesbrough 1-0 Brighton

Cooper, Greening played with Nash and Stockdale on the bench

Wigan 1-2 Middlesbrough

Davies on the bench

Middlesbrough 0-0 Everton

No new players

Arsenal 0-1 Middlesbrough

Parnaby played

Middlesbrough 2-1 Arsenal

No new players

This. I’m astonished this wasn’t the case. They get it wrong too much these days.

theres always 2 sides to every story, usually the truth is somewhere in the middle.

i liked Christie playing for Boro, always had a little bit of guile, but sometimes employers fall out with some employees and vice-versa - lets not start having a go at some/others within our football club, when we dont know the whole story (not quotes and love bites in the media) or fact's.

as an aside - schwartzer was/is involved in a building planning scandal - he owns the oldest house on Sydney Harbour and he made some building changes/extentions etc without the required planning permission for some aspects of it - the whole episode has cost millions of Aus dollars

What about the Spurs game?

He's on the academy staff, so they can't have fallen out with him that much.

What do you mean?
As Diego said, have a listen to his Undr the Cosh podcast appearance. I can't remember the exact detail of what went on but his version of events is one of incredible medical malpractice. There's probably not many Premier League footballers you would feel sorry for, but Malcolm is certainly one of them.. feels like he was forever in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I thought he got the planning permission years ago.

TBF Carlo Nash and Dava are not players I would worry too much about not being invited, based on the above. But Christie/Ricketts/Parnaby were integral parts of the squad during that cup run/season.

It shouldn't be about whether the club fell out with him or not (and his current employment suggests not)

The fans and maybe even the paying guests think he should be there and that should matter.
Oh................ wait

It was such a shame, he looked like he was going to kick on and be a really good PL striker after we signed him only for injuries to ruin his career. I haven't heard the full story and need to listen to it, but it's very sad that it sounds like his injuries were mismanaged and ultimately ended his career.
