Who comes in to replace him? Do we continue with the same style of play and recruitment model etc. or do we change it (again!)

Not saying he should by the way but if it looks like we're getting sucked into the relegation battle I think Gibson would act.

Carrick needs to change something though as we can't simply keep gifting games to teams like this.
 
Problem is

Carrick is making mistakes every week

Won’t change the style despite not having players to play this style

Why didn’t he start Engel and dijksteel. Brought them on last week when behind and done same again today
 
It’s not carricks fault. Half of the players aren’t good enough and the other have aren’t trying. No fight in that team. The recruitment has been woeful, especially in January. Such a bad, disappointed season after the season we had last year.
 
It's not all Carrick's fault, but some of it is. He's nowhere near pragmatic enough and is beginning to look very naive.

He's actually making the same mistake Wilder did in insisting on playing his "system" despite not having the players for it. Sometimes you have to find a way that works for the players you have.

Not only do we not have the players for it right now, we don't have the confidence for it either. He needs to help them out a bit by going back to basics.
