Good players we have let go and regretted.

Rochemback. Never made any sense to me to buy a player in Alves that thrived on those through balls in the channel. Almost all his goals in Holland came that way. Our only other supply line was Downing’s crosses and I hadn’t seen Alves score from a cross.
 
Brunt / Morrison and Cattermole where all terrific academy players who went on to have great careers. We spent millions replacing them with players not as good or simply came for a payday.

Brunt hardly featured. Yet Morrison was involved and looked a really good young prospect. It appeared strange to move him on. That's not just in hindsite.

Cattermole was exactly what we needed in a relegation dog fight. Although probably moved on due to discipline and off field 'issues' . Although I'm sure I've read an article where Gibson says he regrets selling him? I may have imagined it.

Luke Young. We spent years looking for a decent RB and signed a brilliant one. Then sold him after one exceptional season. Clearly cashed in. Yet probably spent that money 5 times over and looking for someone as good or better. Oh and replaced by Hoyte 🙄
