34 years ago - ZDS final

I was 12. Went on a s***y old bus that filled with fumes all the time so for stretches the driver drove with the door open.

Stopped at 3 pubs on the way and for even more **** breaks as the old timers couldn't hold their beer.

Always remember there was a guy on our bus mid 90's and had been supporting Boro since before WW1. Emotional day for him...but he seemed more interested in the beer tbh.

Somehow the bus made it there and back, **** knows how.

I saw old blokes crying with 60 years of support behind them - they couldn't believe the Boro had made a final, even though it was a mickey mouse cup. I wish I could have told that we would be back 3 more times in the next 8 years.

I was 25 and travelled down on a coach with my 1st wife who was pregnant so drinking wasn’t much of an option. Bad atmosphere around the stadium before and after. Wembley was a crumbling freezing dump. The match was dire a massive anticlimax.
Had to go but the real excitement was getting there

Clocks went forward on that day which my mate hadn't realised and he missed the coach. No mobile phones back then to arrange lifts so he hitch hiked all the way from thornaby and made it with couple of minutes to spare.

I wonder how many have been to all our cup final/Wembley appearances?

Personally this is the only one I have missed, due to age really as I said early I was six. Assuming most 40 and younger are like me in that they miss this one from the collection.
Sadly the number will only ever get smaller.
