Injuries

This is a very interesting topic for me, who's fault is it....

Carricks words "It's been incredible this season," added Carrick. "I know a lot of teams have had injuries and I understand that but it's been a revolving door. It's not the fault of the players at all and it's been crazy.

I also see that Riley and Forss are definitely out for the season with potentially Mcnair too.

Injuries are part of any sport and whilst some have been impact, freak injuries, some could of been caused by mis diagnosis and then prolonged impact on that area.

We don't appear to be a team that is hammer the players with running drills and high intensity training sessions, more of a calculated passing and moving drills with minimal contact.

I really hope we can get some luck on this front every time a player or group of players look like they are getting closer to a return, we then lose a group of others.

Whilst there has been a lot of odd decisions in team selection, subs and tactics the manager has had a very hard season to contend with and has moaned about any of it just accepted and got on with his job.

Granted he has got a few things wrong this year but he is a class act and I hope both he and his team can get stronger for this year and bring in the quality needed to push us up the table!

We could have just been very unlucky. It isn’t even “niggles” where you can query a players’ commitment but loads of long term injuries.

I guess we will know for sure next season whether it was just luck or whether it is something the club are getting wrong or have we just bought a job lot of Darren Andertons.

It’s very unfortunate.

Footballers are athletes and have excellent sport science support. It’s not a lack of professionalism.

Probably an old witch who was dunked in the Tees on a ducking stool near Hurworth a few hundred years ago, has put a hex on the training ground. Thinking along the lines of ‘if I suffered, you buggers can too’.
😂

We have played key players too much when in the red zone or returning from injury such is the poor depth of squad. Players like coburn jones Hackney howson forss haven't been managed properly they been overplayed when either struggling or returning from injury. Having only two out an out strikers was a foolish and reckless decision that sort of short sightedness has inevitably meant more injuries as they cant be rested.

I was thinking it was just bad luck but there’s been so many and so often I’m starting to think there’s some other reason or reasons

I think that the lack of squad depth is the biggest factor and I hope they learn that lesson for next season. There may have been occasions when a player has been brought back too soon, but Carrick has been criticised on this board many times for being too cautious in bringing injured players back or indeed introducing new signings.
