Arsenal at home feb 77

Wasn't this the day of the fearsome aggro not only at AP but also at numerous flashpoints in town and at the General hospital ?? Followed by Wolves in 6th round ?? Memory not what it was....

Pitch didn't look in great nick.

That was brilliant battered Arsenal twice in a week , Craggs looked brilliant, also Peter Brine started to look really good but I think got a bad injury and his career was knackered

Wolves QF was 81.
Liverpool beat us 2-0 in the QF after this 77 Arsenal game.

One of favourite days at AP.
Great crowd, great anticipation, and for once a performance to match.
The sight of the holgate (from the Clive road corner) singing ynwa was something to behold. Never seen it before, or after ,so packed out with scarves and flags, end to end. Just wish it had been captured on camera.
Same, the league game a night match a few days earlier was also very good

That's how MotD should be, following the example of ITVs Big Match. All football, with a little newsy, statto, commentary link up to the next game. The BBC effort, with Shearer, Jenas, Richards et al, having a post mortem on every game with movement snail trails, circling players, and having opinions from players from yesteryear is boring as cold custard, (notice I didn't swear:)). BBC MotD, in it's present form wants binning, and should have been binned years ago, saving money from going into the already bulging pockets of millionaire "pundits".

That was a cracker. One of the best games I ever saw. Yet another QF defeat, though, one of five or six in a dozen years, if I recall, most of which I saw. Which is why I will still say to this day that my greatest moment as a Boro fan was 8 March 1997 at the baseball ground at about 4:45 when Ravanelli banged in an injury time 2nd to lay what was probably the most ridiculous of all football jinxes and get us into the semi-final for the first time.

Funny flicking through the beginning of the video and watching the interviews with the players from the Southampton / Man Utd game .. all in the players lounge, smoking and drinking beers. Football. The good old days.
