Eruption in Iceland near Blue Lagoon

As predicted, the eruption has lost a fair bit of energy and is now concentrated in one or two spots.

Still a sizeable lava flow but fortunately not a major threat at the moment... and winds still being kind.

If you're in Norway (and possibly the north of Scotland) you may find that some of the sulphurous gasses have travelled your way.

Edit: a small tongue of lava is headed for (maybe arrived at) the Grindavik Road, north of the poaer station. If it continues west it will intercept the hot water distribution pipeline that heads NW owards Reykjavik.

Although that fissure ran our of steam, uplift has continued onder Svartsengi, which means magma is still filling up at a rate of knots. This is all part of a long term event, so it will find its way to the surface again. Hopefully not in Grindavik.

Here we go again .... a little further up the old fissure from Grindavik this time, so, hopefully, the old lava from the december eruption will help to shield the town.
