Johnny Marr

He was outstanding last night at the City Hall, Newcastle and the atmosphere was amazing. The concert coincided with the geordies home game with Everton so the city was bouncing. Parked at Haworth Metro station and was in and out in no time. If only we had something like that. What a difference it would make.

The originality of his guitar playing in the smiths was incredible.

Assuming he had a support act, what time did Johnny Marr's set start and finish. (Just trying to suss things out for my trip to the city hall on Friday)

Love his guitar playing but find a lot of his solo stuff pretty boring but TBH I have not delved into it very deeply. Glad it was a great show.

Reading his autobiography at the moment. Some great stories. He knew everyone in Manchester and London it seems. Dodgy story on drink driving though.

IMG_0652.pngHe plays 75% his own stuff and 25% Smiths. Really good blend and his band are fantastic. He went on stage about 8.50pm and finished just after 10.30pm. Great concert.

Read it a few years ago, remind me.

Was it when he took a spin around the block to finish listening to a cassette and crashed ?

Have to agree, he is bloody good live. Saw him at The Empire again last summer. So so good.

Also, his book seems to have a little check for Boro.

I saw him at BST a couple of years ago opening for Pearl Jam and he was great. I had never listened to his solo stuff before but it was really good. I still preferred the Smiths songs that he played though.

Gaz Coombes was ok although it’s a tough ask being the support band. Some of his stuff is really heavy which is good. Love salamander.

Saw him twice last year, at Hardwick Festival and at the Empire, both fantastic

Seeing later this year when he’s supporting New Order in Manchester.
