Players who signed for us but made ZERO appearances

Can't think of any that did & didn't though LOADS that was sure as done.. & never did..

George Best.. played in Jim Platts testimonial IIRC & 'word' was he was going to sign.. never did
Rene Houseman.. just after 78 world cup, Argentina Captain & he come & played a game with his Huracan team & never came back :-D
Keith Gillespie.. seemed to be signed every day for a fortnight before signing for the barcodes..
Rob Lee.. told Newcastle is closer to London than Middlesbrough by Keagan :-D
Diego Forlan.. hijacked at Manchester Airport..

Forlan was always going to be signing for united, it was us that tried to hijack their deal.

They had already arranged to meet him, we tried to meet with him beforehand - Fergie found out and rang him and told him they definitely wanted him so he went and signed.

Over the years this has evolved into utd meeting him in the airport and snatching them from under our noses etc but he was always going there.

Nah mate you have that completely wrong, he was in the Riverside stadium changing room with his Boro kit on ready for the big reveal, Sir Alex sent the Manchester Mafia to kidnap him walking between the changing rooms and the pitch and they drove him to Old Trafford in the boot of A rusty old Austin Maestro. He obviously refused to sign for Manchester United at first and he wanted to play for "The greatest team in football the world had ever seen" as he was a strict Roman Catholic and believed that if the Pope said those words then it must be true, anyway Sir Alex was having non of it and "made him an offer he couldn't refuse" Don Corleone style so he reluctantly signed for Man U. 😁
