Christmas Period In NYC

Looking to get booked up for a breakaway in NYC in December so looking for must see / do tips. I've been a couple of times before during the year so its more of a December / festive period advice i'm interested in hearing. If there's any interesting day trips away from the city would also be good to hear. You see on TV it looks a magic place over Christmas so i'm hoping to experience some of it.

Agree on this, we go to NYC every thanksgiving as a central place to meet up for all our mates over the world, and have done for 10 or 11 years now. Every time we make sure we go to the Rockettes, which is probably the only thing we do that isn't focused on eating, drinking or shopping, and this is a group of 30-50 year olds with no children in tow.

The 3D is amazing, but it's just such a magical start to the festive period that it's become a real ritual for us now.
