Not before time - set by lowest TV revenue club.

interesting to see the knock on effect this has, the current situation couldn't continue & hopefully it will start to level the competition again. We don't want to end up like the SPL..

Gives teams going up a better chance of survival.

Will the EFL follow suit or will FFP remain in place for the EFL?

guess we wait for the detail and then see how the big clubs legal and accounting teams can circumvent them
indeed - IF - it gets ratified in June it's a big step in the right direction I believe, as the current: richest club wins devalues & weakens the competition. A competitive league is what made the English game what is is today - not a few - monied clubs relentlessly winning every season at a canter between them..

If its the model with the 'anchor' of stopping teams spending more than 5 times what the bottom club earns, then I'm not sure this will level the field since the richest clubs will be capped at spending around 500m a year - something no one who isn't owned by a nation state will be able to match in anycase.

Devil will be in the details, but I'm pretty sure its not as good as people hope it will be (as far as financial fair play goes).

I saw something on SSN earlier that said Man City's revenue is nearly 800 mill per season so the anchor system would restrict them a bit but it still seems ridiculous that they could spend nearly 500 mill per season and the club finishing bottom would max out at about 85 mill.

Personally I wish they would **** off to a euro super league or something and leave a healthier football pyramid behind them. Obviously is would be a seismic shock to the football economy but medium term pain would be worth it to be healthier in the longer term.

Its good but I wonder why the rich clubs voted for it, unless they see a loophole
My guess is they want the something akin to the NFL model. In that it is a closed system and the spending cap there looks like fair play but really it means guaranteed profits for the owners. A spending cap will mean they can guarantee a profit if they are only allowed to spend x amount. The owners would love for their clubs to be able to guarantee some profits instead of continuous losses. The big problem with trying that approach in the past is that players wouldn't play in the PL if they could get paid more elsewhere but we are now at the point where even newly promoted teams can pay wages that eclipse clubs in every other country outside of the champions league elite clubs. We can have a spending cap pegged to Luton's revenue for example and still pay more than any other country can manage. There will always be countries like Saudi that try to pay more but the money will stay in the PL because nobody wants to watch Saudi league football.

The skunks will be the biggest winners from this.

Hate to say this, but get your money on them winning the European Conference next season, or Europa League if they scrape into that.

The NFL is fair play when it comes to how much you can spend on the players. It is a hard cap based on the total revenue of the league. Where it will be different with the Premier League is unlike the NFL the bottom team will not be able to spend as much as the top teams as the won’t have the income to spend whatever multiple of TV revenue they decide on.

Teams that make excess money will then have to pay the players less and the owners will pocket all the excess profit. It is just a way of making sure the owners can syphon of millions of pounds.

As said already, the big / rich clubs will have ideas on how to beat ant cap but got to be worth a try as the current system is clearly not fair or working.

Been like that since the 70’s when Liverpool won more or less everything.

It would be good to see a level playing field.
