Anyone think houchen will get back in?

what’s looking like a Houchen win is a badge of shame on Teesside. This is why I moved away and never moved back, people that do really dumb stuff like vote for Houchen
You not notice the irony of commenting something like this when you've 'moved away and never moved back'?

God forbid that the people of Teesside know best for Teesside.

Why should anyone on Teesside listen to those who have moved away and wouldn't come back?

The people of Teesside used their democratic right to vote to be represented in our parliament by Jacob Young, Simon Clarke and Jill Mormiter, alongside having over a decade of a mayor that was made a Lord by the most despicable Prime Minister I’ve ever seen - someone who lied to Parliament, partied during the pandemic when people were dying and is an open racist?

They really do not know what’s best for tessside unfortunately - a dark day for the area

He's only won by sheer apathy!

The turn out is so low, most who backed him last time clearly don't want to again but can't bring themselves to go out and vote for someone else...

For me its as bad a reflection on local Labour as it is on Ben Houchen.

It's "only" down 3% on the turnout from his landslide win last time.

Most people can rarely be arsed to vote in local elections.

I think it's an election that Labour could have won with a more inspiring candidate, but the swing is still looking promising for the future.

Ah well, looking on the bright side, he'll continue to support the local butchers with his weekly tranche of pies.....
