Anyone think houchen will get back in?

They are that stupid ,Rishi has just announced that Ben is major of Teesside, not the Tees Valley, Nadine Dorries called it North Tees this morning.
Such hypocrisy. Houchen deliberately disassociating himself from the torys throughout his campaign. Making his leaflets look anything but from a tory candidate. The only candidate at the count today who was not wearing a party rosette.

Tory scum.

It's going to be really frustrating seeing Labour, Lib Dem and Green gains across the board and then having our area trumpeted as a victory for one of our worst governments on record.
As I said earlier on the thread, it's embarrassing.

Possibly also symptomatic however of being one of the most deprived areas in the country. Could be a lot to do with education levels and the "brain drain", lots of Teessiders end up leaving the area for work.

An area ripe for a conman like Houchen to take advantage of. Even then he had to absolutely hammer his campaigning and pretend he wasn't a tory.

Looked a decent candidate and would have been a much more palatable option for many. Again, $hite from the LOCAL Labour party.
Local and national party if we're being honest.

Considering the amount of dirt in Private Eye et al there should have been a long-running campaign to unseat Houchen.

The Labour Party didn't want to spend money on Teesside and given the fact we got very little during the boom years of Blair/Brown it's not that surprising that people aren't getting out in numbers to vote.

It doesn't help when those who have moved away start sneering. The area is on it's knees and needs help. Brexit and now Houchen are just the result of people thrashing around trying to find an answer that no-one else has been able to provide.

Exactly his, Labour did nothing for long enough. Whether you like it or not, people see what he has done with the airport as a success for the area. They certainly care more about that than cheap parking in the town centre or £2 bus fares. Labour should have romped it, but a lacklustre campaign from start to finish has killed their chances. They've only got themselves to blame.
