In his interview with BBC Tees just now:

Akpom

"Feels like a win is coming...
"These are the type of games I dream about...........its like a dream come true"
"Long may it continue"
"I`ve tried to take each day as it comes. I`m enjoying my football. Its good to be back with the boys and look forward to getting back to training"
"Take the positives but we move on".
"I dont like drawing. That feels like a loss to me".
"Who knows what tomorrow brings?"

Fully deserves his chance to make the shirt his. I'm still sure if we genuinely have two forwards lined up then he may still move on. We would suddenly have too many forwards.. Who'd have thought lol.

I was very surprised that he never got a chance in pre season. I presume Wilder had never seen him in training etc. Yet told him to find a new club.

He seems stronger than before? Although to be fair both him and Britt were asked to play a role under Warnock that neither were suited too.

First time I’ve heard him interviewed, he came across really well. Clearly a very measured, grounded bloke. He’s putting a shift in and both of his goals today were Slaven-esque gambling on where the ball would drop and putting himself in the right place at the right time.
He became a bit sloppy in the second half, mis-placing passes and losing possession too easily, but from what he said afterwards, he was playing on one leg by then.

Akpong, Akpong, Chuba Akpong
He scores every time we sing this song

Yes, you could se him get tired early in the 2nd half and i was expecting Wilder to bring Hoppe on at 60. Good job I'm not the manager or we might not have got the equaliser.

I was really impressed by Akpom today. His pressing game was really good, he got himself into the right place for the two goals and held up the ball well most of the time, despite the referee giving him nothing when he was getting dragged about by their defenders.

Maybe we can afford to just focus on getting just one striker in if he can continue this form.

I take back everything I`ve said about him.
After that interview - he might not be a world beater, but hes clearly a very humble bloke, who thinks hard about his worth and is still prepared to do the right thing, no matter what happens tomorrow.

And here was me thinking that “Chuba the Carthorse” was a compliment😱

Love it when a player proves everyone wrong long may it continue.I remember when Warnock said he only watched him on video didn't get chance to see him live b4 he signed him due to COVID and said he'd made a mistake on him .Can't of given him much confidence. Its looking like wilder is installing the conference he needs.

Arguabley player of the season between hun a Giles. Best player on the pitch first half West Brom, helped the fight back at qpr and today 2 goals

If my memory is correct did warnock not say he was his number 1 target?

Really pleased for him although not getting carried away just yet. I seem to remember he made an encouraging start under Warnock and faded.

I'd definitely be happy for him to stay now though. Think we just need one more striker to come through the door.

Not sure if Chuba was at Arsenal at the same time as Serge Gnabry, but two former players that have gone on different paths, but are currently playing well for their respective clubs. I hope Chuba goes on to have a successful season at Boro, and hits double figures.
