    Very memorable bass lines

They've been mentioned a couple of times already - testament to how good Derek Forbes is - but Simple Minds: Glittering Prize

Anyone think houchen will get back in?

"A withering McDonald called this a “political education” issue. That’s dangerously close to saying that Teesiders are too thick to understand the allegations that have been made against Houchen. It must frustrate Labour. They want to campaign on issues of trust and transparency, when many...

Anyone think houchen will get back in?

Just 780,000 short of the 2026 target, then. No problem for Ben, he sticks to his word.

Anyone think houchen will get back in?

Even taking the summer charters and LCC holiday flights into account, the numbers are nowhere near to stacking up

Anyone think houchen will get back in?

Indeed. 1 million passengers.... Today - a weekday - there are 5 flights from 2 airlines, using aircraft which seat 72 people when full. Even if they were full every day of the year including weekends (which they're not).... 72 * 5 * 365 = 131,400 Self-promotion may be a strong point of...

Anyone think houchen will get back in?

I think there's little doubt that he's going to win. You shouldn't underestimate the sheer desperation, gullibility and ignorance of the local electorate - all you have to do is take a look at any facebook post about the airport, Teesworks, the mayoral election and it's clear that people have...

The Benefits of drinking filtered water

We got Virgin Pure set up in our house, unlimited filtered cold or boiling water at the press of a button and no messing about with jugs of water going in the fridge and changing the filter every couple of weeks. It was a game-changer - even not counting health benefits - coming from 30+ years...

    Mobile broadband recommendations

If you or anyone in your house does any gaming, forget mobile broadband. Pings are far too high, upload speeds usually far too slow... it's not the answer if you play games.

Love the band but not the lead singer's voice

Agree, I was a huge fan of them until it all came out (I had just got a signed CD too, I admit I still have it...sealed - don't think it's worth much now!). I miss their music but there's no way I could listen to them without thinking of the horrific things he was doubtless singing about.

Love the band but not the lead singer's voice

The band are great, but Iron Maiden are unlistenable thanks to Bruce. Even more so now since he came out as a rabid, clueless Brexiteer

Mr Bates vs The Post Office

Trying to get my head around the fact the whistle-blowing IT worker is called Rick Roll. No wonder the postmasters were never gonna give it up

Mr Bates vs The Post Office

And Brexit. How just over half a nation were conned - now THAT's a big story.

    Tinnitus

This is interesting - I am exactly the same but haven't found much online about it being associated with tiredness so thought it was just me. Do you get it when first waking up, too?

    The Boat

It was class, not at all what I was expecting. The town scenes - like the pasty shop - were filmed in Selby. I know that 'shop' well, it's actually an odd little museum! Patsy's pasties

What was your degree and is it relevant to your job?

I don't mean 70k a year, that's what you would realistically earn in total (and probably more) in the first 5 years though, as opposed to getting into 70k worth of debt and coming out jobless.

What was your degree and is it relevant to your job?

I've never really understood it. Get a job or apprenticeship straight from school, start at the bottom and earn £70k+ in the five years it'd take to do Uni instead of getting into 70k's worth of debt, have 5 years experience and already be climbing the ladder rather than trying to find a job...

    Peloton bikes, and the like

Depends on the type. I have a 'direct drive' turbo, so no back wheel needed at all - it just goes straight onto the cassette. No tyre wear, no frequent calibration needed, generally much better. Bear in mind as well, on a 'wheel-on' turbo any tyre which isn't slick makes a massive racket and...

    Slow Horses Series 3

Massively underrated. I don't know anyone who watches it, probably because of the platforms they're on (Apple TV+ and Paramount+ I think?) - they're missing out!

    Peloton bikes, and the like

Any good recent phone/tablet/laptop + free trial of Zwift + any old bike + 2nd hand smart turbo trainer is your best/cheapest option. You'll definitely love it, though - at which point you might upgrade to a better turbo trainer that the bike doesn't run the back wheel on, or even better a...
